Motivation with CURRENT photos!

Hey everybody!

I thought this thread could be a fun way for us to give ourselves a little bit of self-love! Obviously we are all on here because we are making some changes but that doesn't mean we can't love ourselves along the way. My reason for starting this thread is that I have a guilty habit of not taking photos of myself when I am not at a weight I am happy with. I have entire six month gaps of my life without photos taken for this reason. So, while I am not at goal, I want to make sure I am still finding ways to not fear the camera and instead, find ways to love myself.

My idea: post a CURRENT photo of yourself that you love and tell us why you love it! It can be whole body, face shot, selfie, ANYTHING- so long as it makes you feel fabulous.

I can't wait to see them!

I chose this photo taken from last week. I've been having an off-plan, bloat-filled week so I am excited to have a photo that I actually love! Even though I am all covered up, I thought my legs looked awesome, even in snow pants! lol I also thought it was great that I was enjoying an active hobby! Those snowballs were so hard to push!!!

But yes- its a good reminder that even though this week sucks, I am making progress overall!

I like this idea :) These are two photo's from my sister's wedding. I like them cause I was happy, and I got to see family, which is rare now that I live on the other side of the country. I'm also all foo-foo'd up, and miss my long hair, lol. First is my sister and I, second is when bridesmaids were walking out after the ceremony.

Ooh, I like this! I took this picture earlier this month to celebrate finally fitting into a cardigan I'd knitted for myself YEARS ago but never could fit into. What I love about this is that I look so average/normal. I've felt conspicuously overweight for so long that feels amazing to feel "average"! :D

NorthernChick13 10-29-2014 05:25 PM

sunarie- you look STUNNING! Your dress and your smile look so amazing! Thank you for sharing with us- absolutely gorgeous!

Frances- I can't believe you MADE THAT CARDIGAN! You look fantastic!

Mrs Snark 10-29-2014 05:33 PM

Such a nice, happy thread! You both look fantastic!

Sunarie, that blue looks GREAT on you, love that color against your skin, so beautiful!

Fantastic idea! I hope this picture attaches here. It's from this past weekend (10/24) it's me and my kiddo! I'm 35# down in this picture. Woot! It is one of my favorite pictures of me and my munchkin! (and everybody keeps telling me how skinny my face looks in this picture! lol)

sunarie 10-29-2014 06:19 PM

Thank you! I love some of the wedding photos cause I'm genuinely smiling, and finding photos of that can be a bit rare! The foo foo doesn't hurt ;) The dress was actually royal.. something or other, and was purple, but all the filters on the photos make it look blue. There's another one I like as my profile picture of boyfriend and myself that more shows the dress's actual color. The smile in it is more posed, but I guess that's what happens with me when I'm acutely aware a picture is being taken.

NorthernChick - I do love your picture, not just cause I love snowmen, but you look really confident in it. You also look like you're having a lot of fun.

Frances - I am jealous of your cardigan making skills! Had you not mentioned you made it I would have thought it was store bought. You also look great.

I look forward to seeing more awesome pictures of happy people.

Well, probably what makes me feel good is my leather jacket, sorry my camera hates the relatively low light we've got going on here! (errr, sorry for gigantic pics)

What amazing photos. I don't have a picture that I currently love about myself, but will post one soon. I sometimes wish that there was a 'thumbs up' feature on this forum. I would give each of you a 'heck yeah' thumbs up! All of you look lovely, happy and very confident in yourselves. Thumbs UP!

Frances123 10-30-2014 07:18 AM

Thanks, guys! I think you all look great! :carrot:

P.S. Knitting = not as hard as you'd think and amazingly wonderful and satisfying. I taught myself by watching youtube videos and using the website Ravelry. If I can, anyone can!

Palestrina 10-30-2014 09:57 AM

Wow, you ladies are beautiful! Thanks for sharing! I'm much too private to share a pic on a forum but take my word for it, I'm taking lots of pictures of myself nowadays. Gosh I remember a time that I would never step in front of the skype camera and kept the camera on my son when talking to my parents. Even though they are my parents, I was too embarrassed of how I looked to let them see me! Not true now, and it has nothing to do with weightloss because I've only lost 20lbs. But I feel beautiful, I feel confident and have worked really really hard to build my self esteem and body image.

Munchy 10-30-2014 10:18 AM

I love this pic because I genuinely look HAPPY - and I am!

Thank you to everyone who shared! You ladies are beautiful.

Anticakechick and Munchy, I love the genuine smiles.

Reilly you are rocking that jacket!

NorthernChick13 10-30-2014 01:19 PM

I agree with sunarie- what a fabulous group of women!! :)

Jesslan Rose 10-31-2014 12:28 AM

I love all of your photos!! You all look so beautiful!! Sunarie, I absolutely love your dress!!!

I just took this photo yesterday. I only recently started styling my hair (instead of wash and go) and putting on make-up again. Plus, I finally got new glasses AND can fit into one of my favorite winter sweaters again!! :)

Mrs Snark 10-31-2014 09:24 AM

Jesslan - love your glasses, they have a great shape and they look fabulous on you! I need to get a new pair, mine have teeth marks all over them from my dogs, lol!

sunarie 10-31-2014 01:34 PM

Jesslan - I too love your glasses! I always get the really thin wire frames. I think maybe I'm subconsciously trying to get the smallest ones to make my glasses disappear. I've never really had the confidence to go for any style of thicker frames. You're rocking yours though! That sweater looks comfy too :) Thanks for posting!

Jesslan - I also love the glasses! Also, you have really nice eyebrows. I am always jealous of people with nice eyebrows, because mine are basically invisible! :)

TheSatinPumpkin 10-31-2014 06:33 PM

Amazing and very inspirational everyone. Thanks for sharing and congrats on your progress.

My current pic is not really so motivating in general but to me its the first time in 14 years that i actually felt like participating at the office.
Of course i had to represent on one my main staples :) Its 94 high today if that shows dedication lol.

Lady Bedazzler is my beloved wife.

My thoughts exactly. I just want to click that thumbs up button, or a "like" button ( the non existent one). All you women and man look awesome. Seriously. You all ROCK !!

I am in maintenence. And I do not have a before photo. So I do not get to play on this thread. But i love looking at the photos. And I dont know how ot put a photo on here anyway. Technology and I do not get along so well. Thanks Northern for the great thread.

I would like to be about 10 pounds less than I am right now, in this pic (taken about 4 hours ago)

I usually dislike how I look at any time of the day or night ....and am full of self-doubt... UNLESS I am on my motorcycle; then I feel FIERCE and indominable and in-control and bad-@ss :devil:

First off thanks for starting this thread, super awesome idea!

Second, you ladies ALL look so awesome! You are all so beautiful and radiant I l just love it!

OK, here is me dressed up for renaissance. I put on a couple of lbs since I last posted BUT I love this because when you dress for renaissance you feel great even being a few lbs heavier. If you've ever been to renaissance you know it's about dressing up, feeling pretty (big or small and everything in between) and I feel like a total earth mother in this photo!

Jesslan Rose 11-04-2014 12:42 AM

Thank you guys! Sorry it took me a bit to respond. My Mom is in the hospital and this past week has been stressful and busy.

Jesslan Rose 11-04-2014 12:53 AM

Satin, I love your costume! Especially the egg carton part. LOL Nice pic (and bike!), Vermont Mom. ;) Veal Calf, love your renaissance dress! I am seriously wishing I had hair like yours. LOL

Everyone looks so wonderful!

sunarie 11-04-2014 11:56 AM

TheSatinPumpkin - Love you costume! Very clever. I thought at first it was just a devil costume and then I noticed all the egg stuff, haha!

Vermont Mom - You're rocking that biker look! You look amazing. How cold was it riding your bike in October where you're at?

Vealcalf - You look gorgeous in that dress. I love how you styled your hair too, completely goes together. I use to go to renaissance fairs when I was smaller, but stopped going as I put on weight so I haven't been to one in years and years. Looking at all the people dressed up was one of my favorite parts. I wanted to buy a dress one year so I was looking at how much they cost at the fair and geez they were spendy.

Jesslan - Thoughts go out to you and your mother.

I don't have an excuse for not posting. I don't come into this part of the forums as often as others and I just sorta spaced and forgot to come check.

Jesslan Rose 11-05-2014 01:35 AM

Thank you Sunarie. ♡

Jeslan Rose, I hope your mom gets better very soon !

I know I said it before but will say it again. Everyone looks SO great. I do not have a before picture. I never would keep one. If it was ever taken. I hated myself too much. So posting a current goal attained weight picture witout the former me, 215 lbs picture would not show the eye popping difference :D

Jesslan Rose 11-05-2014 02:03 AM

Thank you Flower. :)
