Angry Steel Magnolias -- #343

Good Morning, Flowers!
It is promising to be another warm one today; it's 72 degrees with 73% humidity as I type. They are predicting high 80s with thunderstorms this afternoon. We'll see . . . . . . .

I need to run a couple errands as soon as I am finished here. The powers-to-be are resurfacing streets around town and it's a real challenge to get anywhere. Why they tore them all apart at once is beyond me!

I think Leonard is feeling better . . . DH says he isn't quite so pale this morning! The new food is staying down and "in!"

Maggie -- So far Maggie hasn't been on the new stove. She is the only one who would be likely to go across it. A friend of mine said that when she finishes using her stove, she will put a pan on whatever burner is hot, as a reminder that it is hot. She has a snoopy cat too! Stay cool today! Good luck at WI - I'm sure you will show a loss!

I am off to officially get my day going. Have a terrific Thursday, Flowers!

Smile Weighday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It is 89 with 38% humidity as I type with the heat index at 90. I am happy to report that the Iron Monster said I am down 3.2 this day. That takes care of that slight gain I showed last week and more to contribute the walk to the road to thin.

JEAN well I do hope that Maggie the Cat doesn't test a hot burner. That is a good idea to set a pot on the hot spot. How much time do you have left before school starts? I think it starts in mid August here. When I went to school as a child out here it started right after the Labor Day holiday. September was always the back to school month.

I which all of you a wonderful afternoon. We will be going to a friends house this evening to play games. She said she isn't serving dinner this time but will serve popcorn, cake and ice cream. I will be very careful to be sure. We had a good lunch at Sizzler and I don't want to go into overload this day.

Good Morning, Flowers!
I just sliced a finger while cutting up watermelon so will stop in to say hello to you while the bandaide sets. It's a nice 73 degrees with lower humidity so maybe the air conditioner will stay off today. We are going to babysit this afternoon and evening. I can hardly wait to see Ian' new tricks!

Maggie -- Our workshop days begin on the 14th and students come back on the 20th. Bob says there are 180 days between Labor Day and Memorial Day in which to have school. That's when we went to school "back in the old days" too! We have way too many days off and in-service half days. There is nothing accomplished when we have 17 min. classes on the half days. We used to alternate am classes one time and pm classes the next. But some of the teachers complained they didn't like that because it threw their schedule off between classes if they taught the same subject. I can appreciate that; most think doing away with the half day would be the way to go.

I need to get dressed and finish picking up the kitchen. Hope you all have a fantastic Friday!

Red face Friday that seems like Saturday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

It actually rained a little yesterday and made everything look so nice and clean. The plants sure like that better than the soaker hose. I changed my high point day to yesterday because of an evening function we were going to so my whole week got a revamping. I have to be sure to look each day at how many points I have for I don't have them locked in my brain like my regular days. This month is going to be a worthy one. Every day is going to make a difference ~ let's all make sure we keep our FOCUS and act as if we have good sense. Well, that goes for me ~ I can't speak for any of you for you may have good sense all the time.

JEAN I hope that cut in your finger isn't deep and doing any lasting damage! Have you cooked anything on that new stove yet? I can imagine how pretty it looks.

Have a lovely day ~ I keep thinking it is Saturday. Rushing things aren't I . Time flies as it is and doesn't need any help from me.

Happy Saturday, Flowers!
It's a nice, sunny day in my neighborhood. . .it's not supposed to be so hot today nor tomorrow. I hope the weatherman is right!

We didn't get home until 1 AM this morning. Ian's mom said he would be sleepy and ready for a bottle by 8. Yeah right! I think he got his 2nd wind and didn't finally give up until 10:15 when he just couldn't keep his eyes open any longer. He was good so we had a marvelous time spoiling him!

We have a wedding at 4 this afternoon but I don't expect that it will be too late at the reception. Since it is here in town, we can always leave when we are ready.

Tomorrow we head back up to see MIL again. DH's brother is coming from MT next week so I'm hoping I won't have to go up again. It is Oliver Tractor Time at the Albert City Threshermen's Days and that is the brand (no longer made) that my FIL sold. DH and BIL want to go have a look around -- there will be old Olivers, along with their owners, from various surrounding states, as well as local, and DH is polishing his as I type. It could be a zoo around here this week -- especially if the baby decides to show up.

Maggie -- My cut was more of a slice, like a paper cut -- hurt like the dickens when I did it but is fine now. I did make pasta on the stove -- think some flat bottomed pans are in order. I have the kind with ridges and it took longer for the water to boil than I thought it should. I'd like to stay home long enough to bake cookies but my schedule is running out of "free" days. I still have a closet to do as well as a bedroom. I don't know where the summer has gone but it's gone by much too fast!

I need to iron a white shirt for DH and figure out what I'm wearing so better keep moving.

Have a super Saturday!

Smile Saturday

GOOD AFTERNOON MAGNOLIAS

KA-BOOM and I was awakened at 3:30 am. We had a wonderful thunder and lightening event and a gulley washer of rain. It was WONDERFUL. We may even get some more this day ~ a gal can hope. OOO ~ I hear thunder even as I type! But I did a No No yesterday and only consumed 16 points. It started out as an 18 point day and I had it all planned but when dinner came I only ate a portion of what I had planned. I was going to have a 2 Point smoothie later to round out my day. Well I got to working on my latest glass house and then bed time came and it was definitely too late to eat anything when I wasn't hungry. I have had hungry days when I could eat anything that didn't move:wink: but yesterday wasn't one of them. I just surprised myself I guess.

My house turned out beautiful ~ it is a white house with a blue roof and it is three stories with proch and balcony and a lovely bay window. It is my fifth house for the village I am making. I haven't decided what I will make next. I am cleaning my work space up today gettin ready to cut a new pattern. There are different stages to doing this and I do a cleaning up between each stage. I just have to get the carpet out of this room though. Not good to have a carpeted floor in a room where I cut glass. Life is good.

We are going to a surprise party this evening and all the stuff for it has been being delivered here. The baloons will arive about 3:30. Hope he is surprised! It won't be because we didn't try. Later today Will is to call him and ask him over to help him do something. Trouble is though...we are on a flood watch in these foothills for low lying areas and to get to Joe's house are some very low areas in the unpaved road. Hope he and his wife can get out to come here. We may just have all the party things and a party without the guy.

JEAN have fun at that wedding. You go to more weddings than anyone I know. I love weddings. I haven't baked cookies in so long ~ Will loves oatmeal raisin ones maybe I will make him a batch this rainey day. Maybe.

Angry

Good Evening, Flowers!
It's been a long day and I am heading to bed shortly. We spent most of the day at the lake -- the weather was beautiful and we got to play with Ian some more.

Maggie -- I hope your birthday party went off without a hitch. I would love to see your glass houses! They sound so neat. I can tell that you have your FOCUS back! Good for you! The wedding, yesterday, was a strange one. We got there 20 minutes early and there were no ushers nor anyone else sitting in the church. I knew it wouldn't be a big wedding but didn't think we would be the first ones there. The box of programs was sitting in the back pew so we just took one and seated ourselves. There were 4 ushers and when they did show up, they just stood by the door and pointed to empty pews for whichever side the guest wanted to sit on. They finally did escort the grandmothers and mothers down the aisle. Afterwards we talked to a couple of the bridesmaids that we knew, and they said nothing was organized so no one knew what they were doing or when they were supposed to do it. We opted out of the reception since most of the guests were obviously family and we didn't know anyone else. We are invited to a wedding next week, down in Mexico! But we are not going. Our AZ nephew is getting married there; they chose the place because they attended some sort of business meeting there and really liked it. When DH is in Canada (assuming baby has come) he'll go to a ceremony where the couple is being married on the lakeshore by the resort where they all stay. This year's fishing trip is the "family" year and the agents can take wives and girl friends. With no mall, and nothing to do except fish, cook, and clean the cabin, that's not my idea of a vacation!

I am going to watch the news and head for bed! Have a marvelous Monday, Flowers!

Good Morning ladies! Sorry I have been absent since Thursday, but have been running around and really busy then was not feeling up to par this weekend.

As usual, I get to provide you guys with a laugh. I have this really pretty knit dark peach t-shirt that has a satin like yoke and haven't been able to wear it and it fits now so I wanted to wear it. It was wrinkled so I tossed it in the dryer with a bet hand towel and it came out great. I put it on and out the door we went to Bob Evans for breakfast, haircut for dh and then to commissary. I went to the bathroom after breakfast and after going to the rest room, went to the mirror washed and put on some new lipstick. I turned to go and noticed the tag sticking out of my t-shirt. Good heavens, I had the thing on inside OUT! Of course, dh thought this was uproariously funny!

Had a blast with Thomas as usual. He is just the right age to really enjoy him. He "helped" me do my exercising in the pool including providing "weights" by climbing on my back when I was doing pullups out of the pool!

Sounds like you all have been busy busy too. Gloria and Bubbles we miss you!

I am including in the next two posts my "before" pic from December 24 and then a current one from just this last week that dh took for me for my July scrapbook page.

Faye

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
It's clouding over like it might rain . . . we could use a good soaking as the yard is beginning to look dry.

I have laundry going and am trying to wade through the piles from being gone over the weekend. I swear the gremlins come in when I'm not looking and drag stuff out!

"Gma" -- What great pictures! YOU GO GIRL -- you are on a roll! I had to laugh at you wearing your shirt wrong side out! I have a couple pairs of shoes that are black and navy. You guessed it, I've worn one of each color twice this past year! I managed to catch DH before he left home and he brought the matching mate to the pair I needed. Talk about not paying attention . . . my excuse was that it was still pretty dark and I don't look at my feet as long as they don't hurt!

I need to keep moving. Have a great day, Flowers!

Wink Monday ~ Monday

FAYE WOW says it all!

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

We are off to the city as soon as Cowboy gets back from the bank. Going to get some needed things from Wal-Mart. I have dedicated this month to being OP and made a special little calandar for the visual purpose so I can put a big red X on the square when the day is done. So far I have the first three days OP. Joyce and I are doing this together ~ anyone else want to join in this effort?

JEAN that is too funny about your shoes but I can understand how that can happen when the lighting in the closet isn't real bright. I have navy and black socks that I have to be very careful with.

FAYE I am so proud of you! You are doing so well and I wish you much success in the future now.

Gotta go.......

Good Morning, Flowers!
Just a quick "hello" before I get started on my Good Will boxes once again. It rained during the night but I'm not sure how much. The sun hasn't come out but if it does, it will be a sticky day!

Maggie -- The calendar idea sounds like a good one! I would like to do that! The shoes I switched were black and navy. DH finally started buying 12 pairs of black socks all at the same time and rotates through the pile as I wash them. But after a few wearings and washings, the blacks are different shades too. As long as I sort them on top of the washer, in a good light, I can match them up pretty well.

I need to get busy. Have a terrific Tuesday, Flowers!

Smile Tuesday Morning

GOOD MORNING MAGNOLIAS

It is an 80 degree day with 44% humidity which is high for us so is it ok if I snivel a bit? OH ~ poor me. I didn't even want to go to the store and do the shopping for tonights dinner and Cowboy picked up the list with a smile and that is where he is at the moment. We are having 4 folks in for dinner and I am doing an easy one consisting of beef stew, green salad, potato rolls on mis-matched dishes. What fun we will have. We got rid of all our "stuff" when we moved into our travel trailer and traveled ~ now we are slowly getting equipped for "company" again. Only times such as these do I miss my service for eight of everything. But really, what does it matter ~ I do have a hand crochet table cloth. Life is good.

Everyone have a great day this day! Do your best for no one can expect any more of you but yourself ~ so don't be hard on yourself. Life is a challenge so treat it as an adventure.

Good Afternoon, Flowers!
I just got home from shopping and my feet are tired! I was in hopes of picking up something "fallish" to start school with but most everything was the picked over summer stuff in size teeny tiny! Pumpkin orange, squash gold, and army green are NOT my colors! I did find a couple things for when it gets cold and the snow flies. I had lunch with Jason so it wasn't a total waste of time.

Maggie -- It's 80 degrees here and 53% humidity -- the air is still "on" because we are heading back towards the 90s again and once I have the house cooled down, I hate to start all over again. Your menu for last night sounds yummy!

Leonard is teasing for his supper so guess it is about that time. Have a nice evening and a terrific Thursday, Flowers!

I'm #14 so you know what to do.
