Nobody noticed my weight loss for a while. I thought that 10-15lbs would be pretty noticeable but nope. I didn't let it get to me, though; I knew that in time my weight loss would be so obvious that people would comment on it. There are still people who don't comment on it for different reasons (they don't want to put you on the spot, or they're not the complimenting kind, or they're jealous). I still don't let it get to me because after all I'm doing this for myself, and I do notice, and I am happy about the change and that's all that counts. :)

I do agree with others who posted here: some people are shy to tell you compliments, some just afraid to cross the line of proprieties (it is rather intimate question i suppose). But i guess there are such people who just envy you!! that is also can be a reason of keeping silence) But mostly people really do not notice( they are too busy with their own problems( The main thing YOU see the difference! Give those people time to notice and they will shower you with the compliments;-))

And it's not like she went from 400 to 340 so it was less noticeable, she went from 190 to about 130, and until she was at around 150 I didn't even realize it. It really is difficult to tell when you see someone every day. |
My mom notices before I do. :p I lost 8 lbs and she asked me how much I'd lost and complimented me on it. Heck, she noticed when I lost 4 lbs when I first started losing. But nobody else, not even hubby, has said anything about it even though I've lost over 20 lbs overall.
I think most people either don't notice the small changes, or think it would be rude to mention. |

When you're really big, you need to drop a couple sizes before people notice. I was size 24 and nobody really said anything until I was a 20 and I didn't hear a lot until I was 18. When I was a solid 18 - that's when I started hearing comments all the time. My hats when people really noticed. Other than saying, "You look great!" people really should stick to saying nothing because a lot of what they say is just...not really very nice, lol. "You really were a porker!" "No, she was REALLY FAT! She lost a TON! You should've seen her!" "You have such a nice waist now! You didn't have one before!" "Now you walk like a woman. You used to waddle." It's really hard to thank people for some of that, lol. I will never say anything other than, "You look great!" again. :) |
Update, FINALLY my next door neighbour, whom I've known for well over a decade said "I don't mean to be rude, but you look fantastic, you've definitely lost weight, and not just a little bit, a considerable amount." I must say I feel elated.

:) Yeah, I got a lot of "Your hair looks nice today" or "I like your outfit" type stuff. I think people noticed that I looked better but couldn't quite put their finger on it. Then, once it became obvious, obvious - it got to be overwhelming because everyone was talking about it constantly.
For me, back to others, I stick to the general positive comments as those were always nice to hear. |
Thank ladies

I have one neighbor who said she and her husband noticed how much weight I've lost and that I'm looking great, but they also see me running with my dogs so they know I am trying to get back into shape. Felt awesome to hear that!
I think for me it is not until I am down about 25 lbs or so that people have started making comments. I was over 200 lbs after having my second child a little over a year ago, and when I look at photos from last summer the loss is obvious. I hope to be able to say the same thing next year when I am looking back at the photos from this summer. |
