How often do you weigh yourself?

So the title pretty much covers it...

I just got a new scale. At the moment I am in the habit of weighing myself once a week, but I am curious about what others may recommend/find works for them.

I weigh and check body fat% and hydration levels twice a week - it's often enough that things don't get out of hand, but not so often to stress me with the natural daily fluctuations of weight due to bowel movements, TOM, water retention due to sodium levels, etc.
PS: I'm in maintenance for the past 7 weeks, so this just keeps me on track.

Daily. But I didn't used to be a daily weigher. I used to weigh only once a month. I had to come to an acceptance of the fluctuations that I am gauranteed to see. If you can't do that, weighing daily may be too stressful.

I was weighing every day, twice a day. Then I responded to another post and decided to try once a week. Today was my Monday weigh in, so we will see if I have enough self control to not look tomorrow. I am hoping the once a week thing will give me something to look forward to without seeing all the confusing daily fluctuations.

Once a week, on Friday morning before the gym.

I get way too mad about the fluctuations. I weigh once a week. That works best for me!

Once a month after TOM in the AM. I trust myself enough with food now to go that long. I've maintained my goal weight solid for 2 years.

Daily, naked, after using the bathroom and before eating!

Can't let the fluctuations get you down, but it is useful for long term tracking IMO! Do whatever works for you :)

Atleast 2 x day. I keep track of my daily morning weight. Now I know how hormones affect me etc. I am ovulating at the moment and scale jumped 1.6 pounds as it always does during this time.

I pretty much know how the following day's weigh in will go; it all depends if I drank my water, how much sodium I ate etc.

Fluctuations happen, I just roll with them :)

I used to weigh weekly, but it's daily now. I'm back in the healthy BMI range so I'm not stressing over the scale much anymore. And my weight loss has slowed to a crawl (my choice, really) so seeing all of the little daily blips over a period of weeks has been very interesting to observe.

Daily because I'm too curious. When I'm maintaining, it's a must. Every time I've severely fallen off the wagon, it's when I stopped weighing daily.

Twice to three times a day. I should cut down!

VioletDolphin83 04-22-2014 06:11 AM

Weigh myself everyday. The fluctuations don't bother me, mostly because I don't seem to get them much.

Every day, first thing in the morning after going to the loo, brushing my teeth etc and before eating in my undies! fluctuations aren't fun but at least i am ontop of what i've lost

Nunu27 04-22-2014 07:32 AM
