Default Weight Loss

Hi All

I intentd to lose weight: to go from 17 to 9. I know what I need to eat at what exercise to do and food to eat to lose the weight. My issue is the dreaded loose skin. I'm not sure what exercises to do at at what stage in order to avoid minamise. Does anyone have any idea/experience of this? Have any tips?

Thanks

Hi NSWLG, welcome! Are you talking about going from 17 stone (238 lbs) to 9 stone (126 lbs)? The amount of elasticity in your skin is genetic, and that's probably the biggest determining factor for how much loose skin you'll have during weight loss. How old you are and how long you've been at a higher weight will also be factors. I'm sure strength training exercises right from the start of your weight loss journey will help, but they probably can't stop it completely. The good news is that you will be healthier overall! Good luck!

I didn't get any and I have lost almost 8 and a half stone so far. A lot has to do with age (I'm 38) and genes (elastic skin).

But I also exercise a lot and I eat a lot of oily fish which keeps my skin very nice. I think they helped.

My skin has been keeping up with my weight loss, I'm a pretty slow loser, more interested in keeping off for the long haul. It's what works for me. I'm 51.

I agree with taking care of your skin by eating healthy should help, and strength training can't hurt.

Best of luck to you and wishing you much success

Thanks all nice to hear some postives, the strenghting exercises from the start see like a good idea: any suggestions or what worked for others. Started long road ahead but all good!
