Terrible week

We went camping this week. I was a little concerned about my diet but not overly so.

Then, my dog got sick. Life threateningly so. I ended up spending all week caring for him, rushing him to the nearest veterinary hospital that does blood transfusions, sitting up all night for many nights to watch over him, getting him water, and meds, and outside. I was worried sick (and he's still not out of the woods just yet) and pretty much ate whatever I could since I couldn't cook and mostly relied on my husband and mother in law (two HORRIBLE eaters) to bring me something etc.

I haven't been able to use MY scale for the most accurate weight but according to my MILs scale I'm up 6 or 7lbs. I'm hopeful that at least some of it is water weight since I did get more salt/carbs/junk in the last week than I've had in months.

I feel awful. I'm sleep deprived, worried sick about my poor dog (He was diagnosed with Auto Immune Hemolytic Anemia BTW) AND to add insult to injury I'm feeling fat and defeated again. As long as he is ok, it'll be fine. It's just a rough spot right now.

What a nightmare of a week, yikes. It's doubly hard to take care of oneself when there's a crisis happening so please don't be too hard on yourself, MauiKai. I'm sure you're doing the best you can in very difficult circumstances.

You and your dog are in my thoughts, I hope you are BOTH feeling much better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your puppy MauiKai (that picture is adorable btw). Sometimes life happens and our focus shifts-that can sometimes mean our food choices aren't always the best. Don't be hard on yourself. I hope everything works out.

That's awful, I'm so sorry to hear about your dog. I hope he get's better soon. Don't beat yourself up about it, it's probably just water weight and you'll get on track next week. Hang in there!

Those are horrible times when a loved one (human or animal) is ill. Like others said, don't be too hard on yourself. And I know that you feel fat but at your height 160 something is not fat by any standard. I hope your dog gets better soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your pup, MauiKai, what a cutie! I'm sending healing thoughts to him. Don't worry about the scale right now, just hug your baby tight!

I hope your dog is doing better, please don't beat yourself up..so you had a bad week, make this week count. Forget and forgive yourself and move on. You can totally bounce back from this!

Ok, good news on the weight front. This morning I finally got to weigh in on MY scale, vs my MILs decrepit scale. It turns out I've only gained 4lbs, not the 7 I thought. I updated my ticker, which is always hard to do in the "wrong" direction, but the damage isn't as bad as it could have been. Plus yesterday TOM showed up. So, maybe I'll get blessed with a whoosh and be back to pre-terrible week levels soon.

Also, my dog continues to be "ok" though we are far from out of the woods. I'm constantly hovering over him, making sure he's doing ok, eating, drinking...etc.

And today I'm down another 2lbs, so I'm only 2lbs over my previous weight. Thankfully it appears to be a lot of water weight, and it's coming off.

The meds they have him on make the poor guy have to pee buckets every half hour to hour, and drink like a fish to compensate. It's a bit exhausting to have to get out of bed all night long each hour or so, but I'm so grateful to have him still that it's very much worth the exhaustion. :)

I hope your dog continues to get better and better. That is a terribly stressful thing to go through. Give yourself a lot of credit for being such a kind and caring puppy parent.

Great news about the weight!

I hope that you and your little guy continue to do really well.

I'm hope the little fella continues to improve, and I'm glad you can stop stressing about the weight since you see so much of it is water! Still sending healing thoughts!

Glad your puppy is feeling better. And I bet after TOM is gone you'll be lower than you were before all the upset. My prayers are with you.

Ainslie...that is too much to hope for, but I'd take it if it happened!

I'm a wicked animal lover - I have 6 cats and 2 of my own dogs. My crew is sending positive thoughts to your guy! And good to see the weight you thought you gained has already been coming off. Don't you wish healthier eating was just a little more convenient? As convenient as mcdonalds or burger king, etc. I do.

Anyways - *Hugs* Please keep us updated on your dogs progress. Wishing you the best of luck!
