OMG I joined a gym....

  • Hyperventilating here! I have never, ever done anything "gym" like but I know to kickstart the second phase of this weightloss journey, I need to dial it up a notch! God help me.....I may die...or be uploaded in a Youtube video!!

I sooo want to be able to say at the end of September that I lost 50 pounds in a year! Im sitting on 47 now!
  • Congrats, carebearx3 , on 47 pounds gone and a sparkling new gym membership!
  • Congratulations and keep up the good work.
  • Good for you! Good luck!
  • Congratulations, so exciting! Have fun at the gym!
  • Woooohoooo on the 47 pounds! Great job! Now go tear it up at the gym in that new healthy body!
  • You all crack me up! I told the young man at the desk "hello...I have lost 47 pounds and know I am still fat. I need to change it up and short term lose 3 more and long term lose enough to be healthy." He was sooo kind and good at his job...complimenting me several times on the weight loss and then exclaimed when he saw my very fat drivers license photo! Can I be in lust with a guy young enough to be my kid??!?!?! ;-)
  • Go you! I wanted to lose a little before I started going to the gym, and I did my first Zumba class at 260+ lbs! I loved it. I hope you enjoy your time there. It's worth all the effort!
  • LOL! Hey nothing wrong with appreciating good looking men :P

Congrats on the weightloss so far!

I was in a similar boat 2 years ago. I joined a gym (for the first time in my life at 54) after losing 50 pounds. Before that I had always pooh-poohed gyms. I thought of them as venues for people who worshipped the flesh and had nothing interesting to do with their lives. I've kept the weight off and I'm still a member.

  • I actually like going to the gym!

It's my me time. MP3 music, workout, no work phone, no customers, no cell phone, no anything. It's all about me!

It's also how I feel about my weekly WW meetings. These are the times, the rest of the world, gets put on hold, and I am doing something I enjoy, is good for me, and keeps me balanced.
  • Increasing exercise may temporarily affect your weight loss, slowing it down for several weeks.

Just something to keep in mind as you pursue your 50lb goal.
  • Thanks all, especially Freelance, for the words of encouragement! I found two cool machines - a way easy elliptical without the swinging arms and a backwards escalator! I have lost another pound! Ive got (in my head) 17 days to lose two more!! :-)
