This issues has been one of my biggest struggles also. I used to ask to have the house totally clean -- NO junk food! -- but that never worked out and then I would be pissed about it ON TOP of being tempted. Pissed & Tempted is a bad combination for me (= binge eating).
My compromise has been that my husband now has his own snack drawer and section of the freezer. He can have whatever he wants in those areas and I have schooled myself not to look. For some reason this works for me. I think of his snack drawer as a super private area for him, it isn't my business what is in there, and to look would be an invasion of his privacy -- and we all need some privacy, right? I *NEVER* look in those areas. Never. After a while it was like those areas didn't even exist on this planet. I'm probably weird (in fact, I know I'm weird) but this totally works for me. If I don't have to look at junk food I'm not tempted. |
