When in need of a confidence boost...
I apologize in advance if this has been discussed. I have had a tough couple of days. I have stayed on track but been very down on myself and discouraged. This morning I was weighing/measuring myself and despite losing over 30 lbs I still have a hard time seeing it. I had the measuring tape around my waist and moved it to the size my waist used to be. Did I really used to be that big/bigger? (I didn't measure my waist until I had been dieting for a bit already)
I am feeling a lot better about powering through until I reach my goal now! I just thought I'd post this in case others are feeling bummed that they can't see the change when looking in the mirror, this is a quick and easy way to see how much you have changed even if you don't see it yet. :) What are some other ways you boost your confidence when you are getting discouraged? |
Great job, and great idea for a thread!
I put on clothes that were too tight before and pull out the loose fabric to remind myself that I use to fill it in. |
Congrats on your success!!
I remember going from 230 down to like 200 and I was STILL wearing the same size jeans. I was so mad! I distinctly remember going to Macy's and trying on some other brands and I was easily able to get into jeans that were 2-3 sizes smaller. I was stoked! So now, I tend to go to a great department store and grab anything that looks cute and just try it on. Even if I'm not buying anything, just that feeling of grabbing a size Medium, or a size 10 (or size 8!!!) and having it fit is so thrilling. I honestly haven't gotten over the sheer wonder of it, even 2.5 years later. I also get super happy & motivated because I'm just plain able to do more. You'd never find me doing really active things before because I was either too embarrassed or just physically unable - now, I go on vacation and we do all kinds of fun stuff - on our last vacation we went scuba diving almost every day (got certified last year!), went hiking, snorkeling, kayaking, zip-lining and rented ATV's. My husband even commented while we were kayaking that I was grinning from ear-to-ear the entire time - and I realized it was because I could do this stuff, fit in the kayak and the life jacket, not get out of breath and have to give up... and really truly enjoy the experience. Even walking my dogs is still motivation, they give up before I do now! |
