Stressed

Hey everyone! So I am a college student stressed out about her finals next week. I'm an emotional eater and I want to eat everything in sight, even when I know I'm not actually hungry. Do you all have any suggestions for me to stay on track?

Stay focused on your studies. Drink water when you feel the urge to eat. And when you do want to snack, snack on healthy foods like fruit and veggies. Carrot sticks are great, even if you want to dip them in a light dressing.

What Stars said. Don't have anything bad in the house - stock up on good snacks like fruits, veggies, popcorn. Drink tons of water. You get through this. I just finished finals last week and I have always binged during finals but made it this year. :) So will you!

When I have been in your position I drink decaf coffee a lot, and also nice teas, and green tea even better. Hot chocolate. Nuts are also good. Yogurts that are not too high on the calories. Smoothies (strawberries, spinach and fat-free plain yogurt tastes great!), I also make a peanut butter-banana-almond milk smoothie that is delicious.

What everyone else said!!

I love warm drinks when I'm stressed out. It takes a while to drink them plus they fill my stomach with a nice and cozy feeling (if that makes any sense!).

Also, chew some sugarfree gum. That keeps me occupied. Just don't blow snapping bubbles and bother any study friends that are with you. :D I love blowing bubbles!

I second every one else's suggestions, especially chewing gum! It keeps my mouth busy so I can focus on what I need to do & so I can avoid the urge to eat.

Also, I know you're busy studying (& probably finishing final papers/projects), but find an outlet for your stress. Even if it's just taking a short walk to clear your head. For all I know, you're a very organized person, but I would suggest creating a study schedule if you haven't already. Feeling like you have a plan & are organized will help you feel less stressed. And it will help you schedule in some de-stress time! Good luck!

Take it one meal at a time. Eat enough protein to feel full and satisfied. Good luck!
