  • Y'all, if you don't graph, you SHOULD!!!!
I'm a daily weigher, I log in my weight faithfully everyday on the weigh-in threads. I also use MFP, but I only record my "official" weight there.

I just downloaded a new app just for its graphing capabilities, I entered two full months of data, and I am blown away!!!!!

My everyday fluctuations are so irrevelant, that overall downward trend is staring me in the face. My graph is yelling at me, "Hey look at me, you're kicking some serious booty!!!!"

Graphing is where its at yall! Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • I need this! I tried to make an excel graph but it didn't work. Is it a phone app?
  • Mozzy... You made the thread about the numbers, didn't you?

Graphs DO rock! I use MY weight for IOS, record my weight every day (I just changed from weekly), and every time I get frustrated with my progress and wish I could just unzip my fat suit and walk out, I look at the graph. It goes down. Consistently. I used to only dream of stuff like this.

Plus, I swear the smug satisfaction I get from staring extensively at the graph boosts my metabolism. Either that, or it's the graph-related dancing
  • Yeah it's called "monitor your weight" in the (apple) App Store.

Yup, I made the other thread about numbers. I'm a dork lol
  • That's why I use the 'Lose it' app on droid.. the graph there for my everyday weighins kills mfp..So I only update my weights in mfp once a month..looking at the lose it app rocks in comparison.:
  • You're such a math geek Mozzy! I have mine graphed too, but just end of month weights.
  • My graph of daily weigh ins REALLY helped me during my weight loss. I still post it around time to time when someone posts about getting frustrated about weight fluctuations

It's still off because I was actually 10lbs lighter, but it still tells the story of how the overall trend matters the most!

Thankyou for this! When I get discouraged I will look at this graph, and think... "see? Those tiny little bits where it goes up? Ignore them and keep going! Overall, if you keep going, it goes down". But for now, I'm off to knock today's 1lb off the graph and stare at it for a while *does happy graph-related dancing*

I just looked this up in the app store and it's the same one I'm using, it just abbreviates to MY Weight on the phone. It's very good!

Edit: One thing I only just noticed is that it shows your maintenance calories. This is really useful. I thought that number would be around 1800, turns out it's 2291! Ok, that's just an estimate but even so... last night I did Intuitive Eating all day, as normal, not counting anything, and by nighttime I was starving for some unknown reason so had a full can of beans on toast with melted cheese on top. I ate until I was uncomfortably full for the first time in months and now I'm in no hurry to do it again! Thing is, I plugged my food into the MFP app for the day and including that "binge" came in at about 1500 cals. This experiment has given me confidence that my weight loss is not about to just "stop working" because yesterday, I ate more than usual. All this data is very, VERY helpful
  • I use LoseIt! too and love the graph feature! It's definitely very motivating.
  • It's on android, too! I downloaded it. I weigh daily but it screws up other trackers! I only wish I could get the graph on my computer so I could post it.
  • I use my net diary that allows me to use the graph, add exercise, nutritional anaylsis, etc.

I just deleted my graph for the two years to start fresh with this last push. I got a bit depressed seeing the upward trend for a couple months and the huge ups and downs preceding that. New year... new graph!

But yes, no one has a straight line going downward - it's like a serated knife - up and down.

Or, like mine straight line, down line, straight line, down line. with 17 days of straight and 11 of going doing (approximately).
  • I just use Excel to graph my progress, nothing fancy, though I've got it all decked out and pretty. I have an overall chart/graph with weekly entries and one that tracks every day per cycle. I throw in info about my exercise or health or whatever in the margins next to the chart and can really see how these things effect me both short term and long. It has really helped me learn about my body's patterns. Love it!
  • I emailed him that the graphs should export and the dude told me how to screen shot it! So here is my first month graph:
  • I just downloaded Monitor Your Weight because of this thread. Is there a way to enter weights for days in the past? I entered my start weight (Nov 27/12 174 lbs) and my current weight but couldn't figure out how to do anything in between.
