Glad you had a good appt. misspixie, I agree about taking the blood pressure after the scale lol!

I agree with Vex. I hadn't been to the doctors in so many years as I was too embarrassed to go.

I decided to go last January as I wanted to get pregnant with my first baby. Long story short, I have endometrial cancer that they found by accident and I probably will have to have a hysterectomy before I ever have a baby. It would never have been found if we weren't trying to conceive but still, all my dreams and wishes died a bit that day I got the results.

Sorry it's a little off-topic and not everyone who doesn't go to the doctor will be diagnosed with cancer. I just never knew gaining weight could lead to cancer (by producing too much estrogen with the increased weight). Less than 5% of cases are women under 50; I was 36.

I am in treatment for cancer now, the second time around for me. The first time I was pretty sure what my diagnosis wouold be. The second time I went in for something totally unrelated , or so I thought. Total shocking to me but I am in treatment doing well so far. Ladies be sure and have your Paps and mamograms. Don't ever be afraid to go for your yearly exam, there is nothing the medical people have not seen before, they will not be shocked because you are overweight.
elvislover, I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of cancer, remember it is not the end of the world, they have many treatments now that were not availble years ago. Do what your doctor suggests and take it one day at a time. Good luck to you.

I would switch doctors I would be so horrified! I'm so sorry. As much as I hate them weighing me, and I'm still very overweight, I've never had a doctor or nurse explicitly comment on my weight, except to say that "along with x/y/z, losing weight can help" but the losing weight part was just added in with all the other suggestions, not emphasized.
