Breakfast suggestions needed

I had to eschew my normal protein bars for breakfast, since I was eating too many of them. I just don't have the time to cook any more than I do now, and I'm looking for a substitute food. Can someone suggest a quick and easy breakfast food? I usually get to work 20-30 minutes early and just sit in my car and read the news on my smartphone while I eat. This is what I'd like to keep doing if possible. I've been keeping my breakfast at around 350-400 calories.

hey! i have breakfast on public transportation- and enjoy oatmeal (ALOT) lol.

made this last weekend, subbed in almond milk instead of skim, and used egg whites,

http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/brea...d-oatmeal.html

it's fabulous.

cut it into 6 pieces and put them into ziplock bags, it came down to 148 cals a breakfast for me (so you can add a peice of fruit, or a pre portioned cottage cheese cup or something.

it's actually fabulous, i can't wait to make it again!

**whole wheat english muffin with peanut butter (or with cream cheese and jelly)
**overnight oats - 1/2 cup each: plain yogurt, milk, oats. Mix and place in fridge overnight or > 1 hour. I put fruit in before I refrigerate, and chopped pecans afterwards. I also put a bit of stevia in mine. (these are DIVINE)
**look under south beach forum for "nessa bars"

I second the baked oatmeal, I eat it regularly too. When I make up a batch it yeilds 9 servings, so I have breakfast for a week.

Another suggestion is to google "breakfast casseroles". Make your dish Sunday night and eat it all week!

Oatmeal, unfortunately, sets me up to be hungry all morning. It is both filling and cravings inducing, which is a bad combo for me (I want to eat but anything I DO munch on makes me feel overly full). It takes me a whole five minutes to fry up three eggs and eat those with hot sauce, along with my morning coffee. Filling, easy, always delicious.

If five minutes and a single dirty pan and spatula aren't for you, then I'd suggest breakfast protein shakes. I find cleaning a blender a bigger pain, but it preps very easily.

my new favorite meal could be used as lunch or breakfast! greek yogurt, nuts, and a serving of whatever fruit you have lying around. tada! no cooking required :)

I like fiber 1 cereal and a piece of fruit. In the calorie counter's section there is a sticky with about 7 pages of 400 cal and less breakfasts, and another of dinner/lunch options.

Oatmeal with fruit, eggs can be cooked in the microwave. I also sometimes eat a banana with PB2 or regular peanut butter spread across it.

Egg breakfast wraps can be frozen like this:

They can be made with low calorie wraps, egg whites, turkey sausage/bacon, veggies of your choice, low fat cheese, etc. You can really make them any calorie range you're aiming for and warmed up before work.

Maybe you should look into intermittent fasting. I haven't eaten breakfast except occasionally in two years.

I actually make a batch of burritos (usually 20 at a time) and freeze them for breakfast. I use tortillas, egg beaters, ground turkey, cayenne/red pepper, mushrooms, peppers and cabot RF cheese. It's 2.5 minutes in the microwave and 330'ish calories.

Frozen fruit in the bottom of a bowl, 1 cup of plain non fat Greek yogurt on top of that, 1/2 cup fiber one cereal on top of that. Sometimes I mix the cereal with the "top" of the yogurt and then the "bottom" of the yogurt with the fruit. Sometimes I mix it all together. About 325 calories. Not sure what your commute time is, but you can put this in a container as you leave the house and the fruit will be partially thawed by the time you get there. Or use fresh or thawed fruit and get the fruit and yogurt set up in the fridge the night before and throw the cereal on top when you're ready to eat.

PS - If you're eating too many breakfast bars, but are sitting in your car to eat, why not take just one bar with you?

I'm not a great breakfast eater since takes me a little while to be in the eating mood in the mornings. I start with a cup of black coffee at home, then bring something portable to eat once I've arrived at work. A lot of times I'll just grab a banana. I also like high fiber oatmeal, or a protein bar. Nothing fancy or time consuming since I have two toddlers to feed in a hurry every morning. ;)

protein pancake. if i know i will be in a rush i make it the night before.

1 scoop protein powder (your choice, I use vanilla flavor)
half a mashed banana *
1/4 cup egg whites
1 Tbsp ground flaxseed
1 tsp cinnamon

mix it all together and fry in pan with spray olive oil or a little olive oil. I usually put 1/2 Tbsp of lite peanut butter on top and fresh or frozen strawberries.

it tastes great cold or cool too!

*edited to add the banana!
