The difference 10 pounds can make

There was a thread that was resurrected a couple weeks back about "how much difference can 10 pounds make".

Well, I was just updating my large collection of pictures I've been taking throughout my weight loss and found a pic from 9/29 - I weighed 159.4. I took a pic yesterday at 147.2, admittedly that's 12 pounds NOT 10, but pretty close.

Anyway, I couldn't believe the difference. Maybe it's just me because I scrutinize things on my own body, but in the pic from 159 pounds those are size 10s, in the 147 pic those are size 6s! HUGE difference as far as I'm concerned!

Please excuse my obnoxious face in the pic on the right, I was feeling pretty smug about my new jeans.

Anyway, just in case you were doubting the difference 10 pounds can make, here ya go! :dizzy:

Please share if you have any pic examples as well!!!!! I love seeing people's comparison pics!!

Haha, I like the smug face! You earned it ;)

Ten pounds, especially when you're getting closer to your ideal body composition, can make a HUGE difference. But heck, even between 250 and 240 I could see a change with ten pounds. Most of us can't lose 100 pounds, but we CAN lose five or ten pounds ______ times in a row!

HungryHungryHippo 11-12-2012 09:49 PM

Wow--that's huge!! Amazing!!

mottainai 11-12-2012 09:54 PM

Wow, really a huge difference! You look wonderful. (:
Like the new haircut in your profile pic too!

AilsaPearl 11-12-2012 10:18 PM

Yeah! You look great! I noticed a huge difference for me between 155 and 145 too, not really all that smaller maybe, just I felt so "puffy" at 155. Congrats!

juliana77 11-12-2012 10:40 PM

Wow!! I think my lowest low was 147, then I bounced back up to 156-157 at one point. I definitely had pants that didn't fit anymore. It's amazing to me how 10, even 5 lbs makes such a big difference in how I feel at this size. At my highest weight it was what, 25lbs for a size? So 5-10 was not even a blip on my radar.

Anyway, you look freaking awesome, smug face and all, and you rock those size 6's!!

drixnot 11-12-2012 11:05 PM

Great job... but from the look of it... you probably lost more than 10 pounds of fat and just gained muscle. (even more impressive than just losing weight)

atmos 11-12-2012 11:34 PM

I, for one, absolutely love your smug face. :) Congratulations on your loss.

Mer du Japon 11-13-2012 01:10 AM

Love it! You look amazing! I feel inspired to finally buckle down and lose those last 10 lbs!

Nayshal 11-13-2012 01:16 AM

Look at dem tiny hips woot!! :cheer2:

Moving Forward 11-13-2012 04:26 AM

You seriously deserve to feel smug about those teensy weeny size 6 jeans!

Thistleberry 11-13-2012 09:09 AM

Aw man, I know I shouldn't compare but I'm always so blown away by how quickly you've progressed! We're the same height and our starting weights were really close and yet it's taken me more than thrice as long to accomplish what you have.

Only, really, I'm not here just to have a pity party. That 12 lbs is a huge difference! You look fabulous. You're a wonderful inspiration, Lockitup. :D

Roo2 11-13-2012 09:24 AM

You look amazing!!
You radiate confidence!!
your body composition looks so much leaner and well defined.
hard to believe 10 lbs can make that much difference.
Are you do weight training ?

Missy Krissy 11-13-2012 09:33 AM

Great job, you seriously look amazing. Love the new profile pic too :)

pavvie 11-13-2012 09:51 AM

Lady! You look AMAZING! :cp:

I agree with the other poster that you likely lost a good deal of bodyfat AND gained muscle. Great, great work!!!

MablesGirl 11-13-2012 10:11 AM

you look amazing! Great job.

novangel 11-13-2012 10:38 AM

Your stats are about the same as mine, and yes I agree 10-12 pounds makes a huge difference when you're also losing inches/building muscle. You look like you've lost 20 pounds. :carrot:

People say to me "wow, how much have you lost?" and they're surprised when I tell them 10p. They were expecting much more.

Good feeling indeed! Congrats!

Mountain Mamma 11-13-2012 12:01 PM

Wow there IS a difference, and thanks for posting! It's great motivation for those last - (or first! or only!) 10 lbs.

You look great!

And thanks for starting this thread again - I need it!!!

mimsyborogoves 11-13-2012 12:15 PM

Great job, Stephanie! I actually was thinking about making a thread just like this because I noticed how much of a difference 10lbs made on my own body after I compared progress pics! It really is pretty crazy.

ChickieChicks 11-13-2012 12:44 PM

Love the smug face! Nt really smug, though...thrilled! You deserve that big, cheesy grin. :)

LaurieDawn 11-13-2012 01:05 PM

Love the new profile pic. You look AMAZING. Such an inspiration. I remember when you were struggling in August. It's awesome to see someone come out of those struggles so victorious.

JohnP 11-13-2012 01:15 PM

Love the big smile! :D

LockItUp 11-13-2012 02:16 PM

The time frame is sooooooo not important though!!! I feel bad that you feel bad about that! There really is no comparing everyone is on a totally different journey. It doesn't really matter how long it takes, look how far you've come!!!

I would like to say yes I weight train, but it seems to be pretty sporadic. I will do really good for like 4 to 6 weeks, then I will totally not go to the gym at ALL for weeks on end, or just randomly here and there. In the time frame between those two pictures, I probably hit the gym only around 5 times.

Looking great! Thanks for this inspiration on how much 10lbs can make a difference. It's doable for all of us!

1987 11-13-2012 02:30 PM

You look fab, well done :)

I can't wait to drop these final pounds myself, I'm hoping for my final 16 pounds to make a big difference.

Congrats :carrot:

Radiojane 11-13-2012 02:49 PM

You look amazing. 10 pounds isn't even a blip on the radar for me yet (I couldn't even see a difference in my face until I hit 50) but you're definitely giving me something to aspire to!

kelleyb 11-13-2012 04:44 PM

Awesome job! Looks like plenty of body recomp has been going on lately... thumbs up to you!

darius 11-13-2012 05:28 PM

Holy cow Steph you look terrific!

mimsyborogoves 11-13-2012 05:30 PM

I'm sharing my photos by request, and I'm doing bra/underwear pics cause when I compared myself in clothes you couldn't see the difference as much as you can w/o. So here we go, please excuse the mess in the background!:

You look incredible! Wow thanks for sharing your success.:flow1:

and ~ Lauren you look great too. We certainly have great rolemodels in you 2ladies. :)

JohnP 11-13-2012 06:51 PM

Lauren it looks like your arms are finally shrinking. I remember you said that was a problem area for you. Yes, I was looking at your arms.

Honest. :D

mimsyborogoves 11-13-2012 07:30 PM

Lmao, I believe ya, John. Thanks for the input! I feel like they're slowly but surely starting to go away, too. I actually have muscles in there now, too, so it's kind of exciting, lol. :D

dstalksalot 11-13-2012 10:59 PM

Lauren,
Thanks for sharing. I feel like we are weight loss twins. Same height and close SW and CW's.

It is amazing how that paper towel analogy works as you get closer and closer to your goal. I am hoping the next 10- 20 will be my golden number.
