Off track...how do I get back on?

  • I had only been doing my diet for about a week, counting calories. Then a friends birthday was two days ago...I did okay. Ate a little more than usual, but no big deal. Then it was Halloween yesterday. Still did pretty okay. Ate very little candy. Then my bf was hungry and really wanted to go out to dinner. Tried to make healthier choices but I was definitely up on my calories. Today, I'm starving. It's like my stomach remembered what it's like to get more food. And I feel like I'm back to square one, minus the motivation.

Any one have any suggestions? I'm wondering if calorie counting is my best bet, and I have a hard time even deciding how many calories to eat, what to make my goal. I feel frustrated and mad at myself.
  • you drop your phone. does that mean you're going to get it with a sledgehammer? or are you going to pick it up dust it off and keep on using it as nothing ever happened?

yes going over and eating certain foods does cause excess hunger sometimes, but i think that you just need to have the commitment to continue. to dust yourself off, and get back on plan. that is the essence of successful weight loss!
  • don't say "since i ate this cookie, my diet will start tomorrow!'..lol...then it will never happen!
  • You're probably going to make many mistakes and have many bad days during your weight loss journey. It's important to remember that the people who sucessfully lose weight and keep it off are the ones who learned how to get back on track after a bad day, week or month. Use this as a learning experience.
  • For me, starting again with the next meal, tracking no matter what (your body tracks it, you might as well) and taking a quiet moment to remember why I'm doing what I'm doing helps. And having some nice protein filled meals.
