when to weigh in?
I've been weighing in daily. At first I liked it but now I'm just starting to get annoyed by the fluctuations. Ugh lol I'm thinking about switching to weekly weigh ins and I was just wondering which do you guys prefer?
|
I prefer weekly weigh in, personally. I find I get discouraged with daily which I did for a while and it was just depressing when one day I'd be one weight and the next I would be a pound higher or more. I know it's not a pound of fat higher, but probably just a fluctuation because of salt or water retention.

I have been a daily and a weekly weigher. I find that weekly makes me more sane, but daily probably makes me slightly more diligent. I am prioritizing sanity right now, so it's weekly.

Daily
If I miss one day of weighing, I risk going off my plan. :dizzy: You could always try weekly or bi-weekly and see how it goes. ;) |
I'm a weekly to monthly weigher. Some times I can tell I'll be ok seeing a 1-3lb loss on the scale, and other times I know if I don't see some bigger number I'll get off track (so then I wait a whole month to weigh. I do great that whole month because I'm convinced I'm loosing a ton, and then give myself a pep-talk right before I weigh that "even if it's just 3 or 4 pounds I'll still be making progress")

This is my weight loss chart from a few years ago- each vertical line is about a week, and you can see that there's huge variation within that week (sometimes as much as 10lbs). I weigh daily because it's easier for me to see the trends, whereas if I weigh once a week I might only see a little bit of the trend.
BTW, this is super easy to make- just record your daily weights in a spreadsheet. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f1...Untitled-4.jpg |
I would drive myself insane weighing every day. Even if I'm tempted, I only weigh myself once a week. I prefer just seeing a steady loss (hopefully!) of one or two pounds rather than fluctuations, like you say.

What Lauri said. I weigh daily now because it does make me more diligent. However, I don't get discouraged because I look at the weekly or overall picture. When I weigh daily, I can look at the ups and downs and see what caused them. I often go up and down by pounds over night. Or, I'll stay at the same weight, within a couple of ounces and lose 3-4 pounds over night. It's weird! But, weighing daily keeps me in check. Looking at the weekly weights, keeps me sane.
