Paleo for a few months and high cholesteral
I was semi-Paleo since January, and pretty much Paleo since March, and I just got a call from my doctor (i had a blood+urine test done at the end of July) to come in to talk about my cholesteral because I guess the numbers are high?! I'm panicked. I hope its gonna be A-OK. :(
I'm reading all these articles on Paleo and high cholesteral lol But then again I never had it high when I was on my bread and Nutella diet and even if I drink some diet Snapple sometimes, its nowhere near as bad as the 1.5 jars a day of Nutella I would devour...:cry: |
Well, it's not necessarily bad news! Keep reading up on cholesterol before you go. I like Chris Kresser's take on things:
http://chriskresser.com/5-reasons-no...sterol-numbers Short version: There's good and bad cholesterol - even good and bad types of LDL. Not all cholesterol tests distinguish between big fluffy LDL and small LDL bits. If you divide your triglycerides by your HDL, you can get a ratio that tells you if you've got the good or bad kind. Worry about the ratio, ignore the total cholesterol number. Good luck. :) |
I got back from the doctors and my numbers match what Chris said about ppl who begin a Paleo diet. Dr also said that my numbers were high enough so that its prob heridtary and still wanted to "manage" my cholesteral, but all my other stats were all in normal range with an above avg good cholesteral. Sooo...I'm just not gonna worry about it.
I love eggs!! =D |

I love eggs too, but I'm tired of hearing people talk to me about limiting them. |
