New Scale...ugh
I bought a new scale today only because I wanted one with a digital read-out and much to my dismay it has me 7lbs heavier than my "old" one. It was depressing when it gave its reading. :(
|
Clearly it's defective. I recommend returning it.
Just kidding...sorry that happened. BUT...if you started your journey weighing in with the old (nicer) scale, that means you've still lost the same amount of weight. Same success story. So just pick your head up and keep moving forward. Numbers are just numbers...how you feel is the true measure of success. |
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! That's AWFUL! I really want a new scale, but I'm afraid of that too. Now, of course, I realize that I weigh what I weigh and a scale doesn't change that, but I don't know if my psyche could handle that right now.
If you want to look at the bright side, add 7 pounds to your starting weight and you will still have lost the same amount. I can definitely empathize though. I'd be really mad if I had 7 lbs added to my weight. |
I've still lost the same amount since starting but the new 7 just means that I have that much more to go and I was an even bigger moose than I thought. It also means that I won't be able to change my tracker for longer than I had hoped. It's a woe as me day. I started working out with a trainer this week and it hurts to go up and down stairs and sit. Good times on a Friday!

I agree with Stephanie, adding seven pounds to your start weight will bring everything out the same, you have NOT gained seven pounds.

Ugh! I am going to buy a scale in a little bit from Walmart because I haven't had one in a long time. Only time I weigh myself is when I'm at my grandma's house or doctor's office.. so I figured it was time to get one so I can keep track of my weight loss. But I'm afraid it's going to say I'm heavier than my grandma's scale did and depress me too. lol

Happened to me too lol
I even went as far as moving the scale, like where I had it was making it add pounds lmbo |
Since you know your weight, try out the scale in the store before you
UrchSe it. I felt a little silly doing this in the store, but it was worth the end result....an accurate scale for the home! |
I took a 5lb weight and it showed that it weighed 5lbs on the old scale, added a 2nd 5lb weight and they weighed 10lbs and then added a 6lb ball and they all weighed 16lbs. The 3 together won't register on the new scale. That made me feel a smidge better. And here I thought moving to digital would be the answer...fail!

Irish you need to get a grip on yourself.
If you looked like your favorite actress on TV would you care what the scale said when you looked down and read the number? I didn't think so. Who gives a crap what the scale says? It is only a tool for telling you what you weigh which is just one way to measure your progress. Take pictures and measurements. After all, those are what you really care about. Instead of fooling around with the scale you could have been doing something fun with your time. |

It matters to me and it matters to my doctors who don't want to perform IVF until I hit a certain BMI. I'm going to assume that you didn't mean to come across and condescending (here's hoping anyway) but perhaps before you make a comment like you did you might want to consider that everyone's circumstances are completely different. |
aw thats such a bummer :( i hate when that happens!
but maybe its better in the long run to know now instead of when you got to your goal weight realizing you're not actually there? |
My scale is fizzing out and I don't want to buy another one for this exact reason. I know it doesn't really matter what it says, but seeing a higher number does not make me happy.
I think adding those new scale related pounds is a very good idea. |
