Since it seems to be a tradition at work that might be hard to change, just take it easy and follow all the advice you'e already been given. At home, with family, perhaps you could ask for something different this time.
Long term, however, you (we) will have to learn to deal with meals, situations, foods, etc., that are not healthy for us to eat, at least not on a daily basis. Every skinny person we all know would eat something at the celebration you described. They would simply limit the amount or plan for it by cutting back somewhere else. Or for a few days after. We have to learn to do the same. think and eat like thin people. Don't let one meal get you down. And I have to jump on the "don't weigh yourself after every meal" bandwagon. If you held the cake, doritos, soda, etc., in your hand and stepped on a scale, it would have to weigh more than if you put all the items down. What do you think will happen if you weigh yourself immediately after eating? And how do you know how much is the cake and how much is the bottle of water or whatever you had 2 hours before? Weigh at odd times of the day out of curiosity for the knowledge. But don't do it to beat yourself up. Good luck coming up with a plan for future gatherings. Lin |
thanks!!!
