Moving will be the death of me
My husband and I are moving out of my parents house (we moved in a couple of months ago following a series of break-ins in my old neighborhood which ended up at my own back door :yikes:). We just found this beautiful house right in town, and I'm suuupppeeerrr excited about it.
The thing is, we have been getting up every morning to work on moving all our stuff in and getting settled- so early I have been skipping my normal breakfast. We end up working for hours on end with empty tummies, and by the time we are done for the day I'm so exhausted, we end up getting takeout. Instead of keeping the damage to that one meal a day, I've pretty much "quit" and have been eating whatever, whenever. I haven't weighed myself in days, and I shutter to think about what I might weigh right now. Right now I'm having a hard time getting motivated enough to pick back up where I left off on my weight-loss journey. I had gotten myself to a point where I was contented eating healthy and skipping the sugary foods as long as the scale was in downward motion, but now that I've been "pigging out" these past few days, a salad doesn't sound too appetizing even though I know it's better for me. I'm in desperate need of motivation right now. |
Your determination to do better will pay off. It's about considering each moment as the time to start fresh. Maybe you blew breakfast, but you can make up for it during lunch. Then you may screw up lunch, but you can always do better at dinner. If you mess that up too, well, tomorrow is a new day. There's always exercise to make up for caloric mistakes, too.
Maybe instead of thinking about it as just a salad, think of it as a meal with with lots of toppings....lots of meat, lots of cheese, lots of mushrooms or whatever topping floats your boat. I love a big taco salad, or a BMT salad from Subway, or a chicken teriyaki salad with sesame dressing..... Those are filling and so good, it ought to turn you on to salads again. Maybe instead of fast food, you can go for a healthy subway, or some other choice. Buying a house is stressful. Moving is stressful. Heck, living with your parents is stressful. I don't blame you for sort of falling off the wagon. Now you just need to decide to start fresh and then face the scale. Just do it! Good luck! |
Yeah, I agree with twinieten, just don't give up! I would always tell myself "I'll start tomorrow", but what I needed to tell myself is "I'll start right now"!
So if you botch a meal, start eating right for the next meal :) Think about how you'll feel when you eat right, and what you'll look like at your goal weight. How your friends and family will react when you begin losing weight...just think of all the reasons you want to lose weight in the first place. Motivation is hard to find but I know you can do it! Everyone makes mistakes on diets, especially because of stress. But we have to just shake it off and get right back on track! So start eating right now! Not tomorrow! :D Best of luck! |
Can you make sure you have breakfast things at the new house? Tea kettle boils while you carry things in to make oatmeal. Or even those ziploc bag omlettes that were talked about in a recent camping thread that you just toss in a pot of boiling water to cook.
Enjoy a nice breakfast with the hub in your new space and start your day off right. And in my area, the Subways all went to 24 hours. If they did that in yours, swing by for breakfast on the way to the house, eat on a break. You can even have a sandwich/salad made for lunch so you know exactly what you are eating and can stay on track. You'll feel so much better for getting back on track sooner than later. |
When I was in the process of moving I ate a lot of omelets. It is not difficult to keep out a frying pan, the kettle and a few dishes to go with it. In the fridge I would have simple things like eggs, fruit, cottage cheese, chunk cheese, bread, cold cuts, milk and cereal so we (my son and I) were always guarenteed something quick to eat while we were busy.
It worked like a charm and I actually lost weight during the move because I was so busy packing and unpacking and cleaning, etc. |
