Default How do you use your coconut oil?

I'm just learning about all the wonderful health benefits of coconut oil and used it for the first time tonight to brown some chicken for a nice salad.

How do you use your coconut oil? I'm interested in both internal and external uses. Thanks!

I put it in oatmeal sometimes, helps add a nice flavor and make the oatmeal more creamy. I heard people also use it in their smoothies.

I also use it in my hair for an oil treatment... just glob it on all over my hair and leave it on overnight and wash out in the morning

Sometimes I dredge white fish in egg and coconut flour and then fry it in coconut oil. SO DELICIOUS. I also use it to make coconut bark for a quick, paleo-friendly chocolate fix.

I try not to consume much of any oil, but when I do cook or use oil based marinade, I use coconut oil. I also use it for my hair and skin. If you apply some and massage it into the roots of your hair (then massage it down to the tips of your hair) after you shower, it does wonders.

I am on a diet based on counting Macro Nutrients (meaning I meet certain levels of fat, carbs, and proteins) I take 2 1 tbsp "shots" of coconut oil to meet my fat goals for the day!

I love it!

I really want to try it on my hair because i hear its an amazing moisturizer!!
I also heard that if you rub a little on your skin the mosquitos will stay away from you...i might try doing that to since we have bad mosquitos about this time here in Oklahoma and they are always trying to chase me down when Im going for a run! lol

I use it on my skin and in my hair. I also use it in place of most other oils in cooking. I have heard that it is good for ear ache/infections. Just put a tiny bit inside your ear and your body heat melts it and the excess is absorbed.

I use it for sauteing, and I sometimes put a tablespoon in my coffee or herbal tea. It makes a bit of a (hot!) oil slick on top, but I got used to that

I'll rub a liberal amount on my face about half an hour before a shower. Once I wash it off my skin feels really soft, and it seems to have helped with my acne. I'll also rub a small amount over dry areas of my skin after a shower. And about once a month I'll work some into my hair and roots, letting it set for at least an hour before shampooing it out.

I occasionally make grilled sandwiches, and use it to spread on the bread instead of butter. Even my husband likes it that way! I've also added it to my air-popped popcorn and it's really yummy. I've tried adding it to smoothies but no luck; it hardens too much in the cold and turns into a solid lump so I use olive oil instead.

I also put it all over my face and the back of my hands. When I bake (which is very rare) I use coconut oil. When I have PMS I make coconut bark which is just coconut oil, cocoa, maple syrup (you can use stevia instead but it's too bitter for me) and some walnuts.
