Dieting and menstrual cycle...

I was losing weight, but now I started my period (sorry so graphic)... I haven't lost anything, but I have stayed the same weight... Is this normal? -or am I at a point where I need to do something different to lose weight? or will I start losing again in a couple of days? Thank you all for your help!

For me, I gain a pound or two before and after my cycle it goes back down. I don't think you see your true weight around your period due to water gain. I know a week after I have stopped I see my true weight.

Same here, I usually go up a bit right before I start.

I should be starting my MS within a few days.I have been exercising and cutting down on calories for the last month. I weighed myself several days ago and according to the scale I gained five pounds in a week. I know that's not possible and it has to do with my MS. So I don't plan on weighing myself again until it starts and is over.

the normal cycle of weight loss for most women goes:

week 1: lose a crapload
week 2: lose a fair bit
week 3: lose a bit
week 4: lose nothing or even gain some

repeat from the top.

as long as you are working your plan and making the necessary tweaks, it WILL succeed.

Sounds normal. Water retention and all that.

Periods suck. Not one positive thing about them. I currently feel like my *** has blown up and like my uterus is being slowly twisted and strangled with a giant hand. I would love to rip out my repro organs and tell them to go play in traffic.

personally, i don't see *too* much water retention, but the week before i'm due, i get very bad cravings and my already weak will power goes out the window completely

Yeah usually I gain a pound or two (so far, I haven't been doing this very long). It's frustrating but it'll go away again.

Don't worry it is normal to carry around extra water. Just can't blame those hormonal fluctuations every month. Believe me I can be 5 lbs heavier before my period uggghh and in a week I am around my normal weight. Just keep on exercising and counting calories. If you feel your clothes are getting bigger and you feel toned and tight, then you are on the right track.
