Just avoided a binge situation
So I am just finishing week 38 of my journey. There have been times where I have allowed myself off the hook, usually on a Sunday, and usually it's once every 4-8 weeks. But the last time I did it, instead of just eating a meal that I wanted, I ended up binging all day. I couldn't stop: two breakfast tacos and three donuts, chili cheese fries (which I wasn't even craving!), brisket and sausage, creamed corn, beans...unbelievable. I didn't get all guilty, but I know I went overboard. That was 9 weeks ago.
I thought since it was Easter, I would take a chance on another planned cheat. But I didn't know what I wanted, and I was concerned about things getting out of control. I started driving around and decided that I just shouldn't do it. I have started recording everything I eat and calories burned through exercise, and the thought of filing out my journal with thousands of calories - when I didn't even know what food was worth it - didn't feel right. I also have a birthday coming in 4 weeks an am going to Europe in 6 weeks, so I will have plenty of opportunities to bust loose then. So I raced home and put a big bag of green beans in the microwave as quickly as possible so I wouldn't change my mind :). Binge avoided. Instead of getting a pizza, or BBQ, or chicken with yummy hi-calorie sides, I have decided to keep on the path. No guilt, no writing obscenities in my food journal! Whew! |
Congrats! That is just amazing! You made a very healthy choice, mostly for your mental wellbeing. Feeling in control like that is great. And your body thanks you for not stuffing it with junk ;)
I am slowly getting to the point where I just don't wanna waste my hard earned calories on stuff that isn't even that great! |
WooHoo!

Yay :)

That's awesome! I just had my second freakout food day since August (not a bad track record really) but this really gave me a ton of hope! I was super freaked out that I still had the propensity to binge but I guess it's all a learning experience, right?

Gosh.... That is GREAT news!!!
It is *hard* to save one from oneself! The next time I'm about to fall... I'm going to remember this post.. Thank you. |
That is great! Look how having to record it can thwart even planned days off plan. It's too painful soemtiemes to realize that one day of Supere high eating can undo several days of eating 500-1000 calories a day less. And then, it just doesn't seem worth it.
Good for you! |
Nicely done! As "common sense" as it would seem to say "Hmm I OD-ed last time and felt bad, I won't do that again," most of us struggle with holidays etc.
|
Good for you! I'm hoping next time I will follow your lead rather than gorge myself on food I didn't really want in the first place.

Great job OP.
|
Good work!! Keep it up, Europe sounds AH-MAZING!! If you walk a bunch, which you probably will - you'll be able to enjoy the local cuisine a bit too!
|
Great Job..

Good for you! I'll try to remember your post when I get those binge cravings.
