I love this diet!

I finally found the diet that I like and can live with - even long-term. :T I'm calorie-counting. I've also decided to keep the same diet from day to day without variation, since I've carefully calculated the calories and foods. It makes it easier to shop and prepare for each day. I wind up eating three meals with snacks in-between, and so far I haven't gotten so hungry that I think I'm going to binge.

Total calories for the day is about 1490, I believe. 100 less than I had normally been eating, which surprised me. I feel fuller on this diet than before with fewer calories, which is a bonus.

Here's my daily diet:

Breakfast: 1 turkey sandwich (3 oz. deli turkey), 1 mini-peppermint patty (York).

Mid-morning snack: 1 regular peppermint patty

Lunch: 2 boneless, skinless chicken thighs (5 oz.), 1 serv. broccoli

Mid-afternoon snack: 1 regular peppermint patty

Dinner: 5 oz. grilled tilapia, 1 vegetable (130 cal.)

After dinner snack: 1 vegetable (130 cal. - something like corn on the cob or homemade mashed potatoes)

Before bed treat: 1 bag Popsecret butter popcorn (100-cal.) and 1 regular peppermint patty

Sounds like someone has a thing for peppermint patties, lol. XD It's great that you've found something you can stick with, but it seems like you might be depriving yourself of a lot of nutrients -- maybe replace some of those peppermint patties with fruit?

I'll take a multi-vitamin instead.

This isn't a lifelong diet - just until I get to my goal. I'll be sure and add fruit in then. And I'm darn lucky that I'm *only* eating 3 PPs a day; I'm a voracious sugar-lover.

Lol ^ I agree.. Lots of tht minty goodness u got going on.. What you should aim for is consuming as many nutrients possible for low calories.. So maybe one peppermint patty swapped out for something sweet n healthy like fruit as previously advised

You also need not eat the same things daily. Mix it up a bit. You will see a stall keeping with the same foods. You are going for a lifestyle change. You can not eat this every day the rest of your life.

Ok let's break it down...
there's 60 calories in a mini p-mint patty.
140 calories in a regular size one.

You're eating 2 regulars & one mini in a day.
That's 340 calories.

:o

Comparatively...
My entire lunch is 360 calories:
1 package Green Giant Healthy Vision frozen veggies
1 large tomato
2 small cucumbers
2 oz baby carrots
1 cup 2% fat cottage cheese
20 large seedless red grapes

...and believe me, that's a LOT of food!

I'm not knocking your peppermint patty addiction; we all have our "drathers" as my mama calls it ("I'd rather" = 'drather'). But when you look at it in that light, and the fact that it's over 85 grams of sugar... well, at one point, you may decide that you'd rather spend your calories a bit more conservatively.

For instance, you COULD HAVE 60 large strawberries for 360 calories! Wow... that's a lotta strawberries! :dizzy:

Or .... 5 bananas for 400 calories.
3 large apples... aprx 381 calories.

Or ... just stick with your peppermint calories. As I always say, it's "whatever works FOR YOU" that matters.

tricon, I actually thought you were joking about the peppermint patties. For the same amount of calories you could be eating something nutritious.Vegies or fruit or you could have yogurt, cottage cheese, cheese sticks, Laughing Cow Light Cheese wedges, eggs, whole grains. I am afraid you are going to get tired of this restrictive diet and throw it all overboard.
What do you plan to do when you get to goal ?

I want to know, did you lose all your weight so far following a diet like this? I love Peppermint Patties too, but I have been following a strict diet, starting the Couch to 5K program and I still cannot lose a pound... I also have hypothyroidism... Anyway... if you are losing that type of weight following this diet, I may try it!!!

I think it's a cute idea, not sure it's great b/c candy and popcorn do seem to take up a lot of your diet, but I'm certainly not judging [I purposely budget every day to allow for 2 girl scout cookie samoas & milk [200 cals] - I NEED a chocolate fix every single day]. I guess a vitamin isn't a bad substitute but I am curious to see how much weight you will be losing in this manner and also if you are finding your energy levels are high or if you crash due to the sugar. Please keep me posted - if you do find it to be great, this could be a break-through for all of us chocolate lovers LOL!

It's all about calories and what you can maintain doing. If this works for you, great, more power to you.

For me I am more about bulk, so I tend to choose things I can eat more of. If I have a chocolate craving, I go for sugar free pudding made with fat free milk (and I only use half the milk on the directions so it's nice and thick). Even if I totally lose it and eat the whole bowl it's only like 200 calories.

Today at lunch I was starving, so I chose sugar snap peas to add to my low cal wrap because I can have like 2.5 cups of them for just 100 cals! HA! I get excited about things like that. So I can understand your excitement if you have found something that works for you. Glad to hear you are planning on a multi vit too!

Hmmm... so here is a thought...

Im not dissin the pepermint patty thing goin on because my oh my do i love those york patties too..I could eat like a thousand of those..But here is a thought...

Take some sugar free pepermint syrup or pepermint extract and add it to an 8 ounce glass of chocolate milk..and pep mint chocolatey goodness in a glass for only 120 cals

Why would you need to eat just before bed?
