I have definitely found a correlation between sleep and hunger for me. I need to get 7-9 hours of quality sleep a night to feel my best but that doesn't always happen. I used to hardly sleep at all and found that the lack of sleep was really bringing me down, not just with my weight but everything - I was irritable, my brain was foggy, and it really sent my anxiety through the roof. I have made sleep more of a priority than I used to and I get at least 6 hours on most nights. My only problem now is that I like to spend about 3 nights a week, sometimes more, sleeping with my boyfriend.. we both wake up several times in the night when were together so even if we set aside enough time to sleep (which doesn't always happen anyway because we get sucked into conversation or a movie or something and don't want to go to bed) the quality of sleep we're getting totally sucks. We've been together for about seven months and although it's improved slightly I haven't been able to find a cure so we can sleep through the night together. This week I stayed over his house Sunday, Monday and Wednesday night and I noticed a very significant increase in my hunger. I think my body craves more food because it's a quick energy source when sleep is not readily available. To my disappointment I think I will have to give up sleeping with my boyfriend during the work week, at least temporarily, so I can get on a better sleeping schedule while I'm starting my weight loss journey.
