Measurements not changing...

What does it mean when your weight goes down but your measurements don't? Is that all the inside yucky fat that you don't see?

Unfortunately when you're losing weight the areas that have a lot of fat can become pretty dense with fat so the first step is for the area to soften up and become more sqishy and jiggly. Then the measurements go down.

Also - we have fat all over our body and you'll lose it first most typically on the parts you're probably not measuring - like hands, wrists, forearms and face.

Everyone loses fat a little differently.

I agree, JOHN -- people comment that my face is thinner, and that I have "skinny" fingers (my wedding band doesn't fit anymore). Plus, I can see my collar bones and those little bones that stick out on the top of my shoulders. My forearms are slimmer too; actually the top of my arms are too.

Hope this isn't TMI, but my DH gave me a lovely compliment recently -- he said that my derriere has a beautiful, nice shape again ... haha! :o And he says it's soft & squishy & fun to grab!

All this during a time when the scale moved ever so slowly ... but those are nice NSV's that are noticeable and rewarding ladies! :D

Agree with John. I only measure once a month and I see very little changes month to month. I only measure bust, waist, hips, upper arm and upper thigh. At most I'll see an inch off waist and hips and parts of an inch everywhere else and now that I'm closer to goal - even less. And those are the parts we measure.

Like John said, we don't measure things like fingers and wrists - yet my ring size has gone from a 8.5 to a 6.5. My wrist has gone down from 7.25 to 6.66. I only know those because my rings don't fit - even my skinny rings and measuring your wrist is one way to find frame size.

Interesting - I've never thought of that but have just gone and tried on lots of rings and they're all loose.

I only measure once a month too and sometimes some areas don't show a loss, other times quite a big jump. As John said, it's different for everyone.
