I usually eat about 1400-1600 calories a day. Today was one of the most hectic days I've had in a very long time, which ended up with me only having time to eat 600 calories. I'm going to be going to bed in just a few hours, but within that time I think I'll be able to eat another 200 calories. The odd thing is that Im usually a huge evening snacker.. but I am not hungry at all!..... Is it okay if I only end up with 800-1000 calories today or would it be better to have like.... a big bowl of icecream just to meet at least 1200 calories?
BTW: Today I ate
Breakfast : Toast with peanut butter, a personal yogurt cup and blueberries
Lunch : Huge lettuce, pickles, ham and cheese wrap
Dinner: Homemade extra lean chicken burger with a massive plate of steamed veggies
I also measure everything so I know my calories are pretty accurate. I didn't try to eat this little, I just was out unexpectedly all day.
I don't think it'll make or break you, but I try not to get that low. I have a 1200/day limit, and if I come in at, say, 1080 or something, I have a couple of cookies to make up the difference. If I don't, then I end up feeling hyper-hungry the next day.
Still, you know yourself better than we do, so do what you think's best.
If you're good with 600-700 calories, do it. Don't eat more calories just for the sake of eating calories. Every so often I find myself not particularly hungry, too, and I eat less than I normally do. Listen to your body and it'll tell you what it likes and doesn't like.
I never ever eat this little, so trust me when I say its a one time thing. I think just the hectic day with no time to eat, and now the exhaustion made for a bad combination for my appetite. I'm usually almost always fighting to stay below 1600 because I like to eat.
To my mind, there's no eating rule that must be applied every single day. If you're under your caloric allotment on one day, so be it -- especially if your body isn't asking for more food.

Agree with above posters. Not every day is the same- some days you are hungry and go over calories, some days not so hungry and eat under. Diets or rigid calorie formulas which assume the body's needs are the same each day are unreasonable. As long as you are eating enough in the long run that's what matters.

Yup. I just spent almost a whole week eating around 1000 calories or less because I wasn't very hungry. I made up for it yesterday with a 2000 calorie day because I was hungry.
It happens. I've had a few days where I just couldn't eat and have been fairly low when it comes to my calories. As long as you don't make a habit of it, then you're fine.
Life happens sometimes Not every day will go according to plan.
