The last time I was at my current weight I was in my 20s, so there were a lot of moves and closet cleanouts over the next 20+ years yet somehow some of those clothes always managed to survive the pare down.

So I was able to shop my own closet a bit during my weight loss and reclaim a few favorites from a lifetime ago. I found it fun and also helped with the entire clothing industry resize ("vanity sizing"). I proved it wasn't my imagination that even though I wear a size 8 now, I was size 12 then and still am if I wear my 80's clothes.

Exactly the same here. I wear a size 10/12 now. The saved skirt from 19 years ago is a 14. Which means when I was wearing a 20, I didn't realize how big that 20 was as i gained weight as the vanity sizes wrre changing, but i didnt need to change pant size. It was what used to be a 24 I figure.... Which ironically, is what size my mom always wore though she's 2.5 inches shorter.

That I might actually get down to an 8 is ridiculous. No wonder there's a need for 000. I'm a big girl with big bones and big hips. What about those tule tiny built women?

Yes I wonder too! I just fit into some size 1s and I'm supposedly large framed. I'm at the higher end of a healthy BMI... So either I'm super muscular or something's up with the sizes. Where do he small-framed women shop?

I have a pair of 14s I wore about 10 years ago in middle school. When I was a 14 last year I couldn't even button them...I actually didn't get into them until I was getting into 10s

They shop in the children's or junior's departments.

I not only kept my smaller clothes when I gained, but the new clothes I bought were in the smaller size as well. That was added motivation to get back to where I wanted to be. I knew I needed to expand my wardrobe, and in order to be able to wear my new clothes I had to lose the weight.

I like to hold on to them. I kept a lot of old stuff, that at the time seemed like simple "timeless" pieces. When I finally fit into them again, I found I didn't like a lot of them. But it was still an exciting NSV! ... then I went shopping!

I saved a few pieces to motivate me, that don't look aged despite having been purchased ten years ago. And now I fit into them, so I've had the last laugh on that ;)

I don't save bigger clothes, that's asking for problems with me, but smaller clothes? Sure. I'm almost out of the sizes I owned and into all new clothes now, though.

I have a hard time getting rid of clothing as it is and when I started putting on weight I just kind of stashed my "skinny" clothes of various sizes away in my parents basement in boxes. I kept some around me the whole time as a motivator but it usually just made me depressed. Once I decided I was tired of making excuses and ready to get healthy again I gained a new outlook on my "skinny" clothes, and now they're a big motivation for me. I have sizes ranging from 10 to 18 so as I lose weight and start wearing the size down I pull out the next size down and get rid of the largest size.. I just got from an 18 to a 16, and I started at 20.. so I got rid of my 20 stuff and when I'm a 14 I'll get rid of my 18's.. so I have room to fluctuate should my body decide to make me bloat or I have a bad week and feel like I want to wear my "fat pants".

I feel like getting rid of my big clothes once there's no way I would want to wear them is helping me with feeling like I'm never going to have to wear them again. And I am really glad I held onto all of those clothes I outgrew before, I'm pretty broke so having things that are already the size I'm trying to get into is helping cut my dread of having to buy new things.

if it were me i'd keep the cutest things and hang them somewhere where i see them everyday..this has helped keep me motivated to get back into them.
