I really want 2012 to be my year.........but was saying the same last year

Who said this last Jan and succeeded? What kept you going? what gave you motivation?
How much did you lose and how long did it take you?

Honestly, as far as weightloss and health, I didn't resolve to do anything last year except to keep doing what I was doing. I had already reached my goal weight, I had quit drinking and smoking... I just vowed to myself to keep up the fight, and I did.

Last year, my Real resolution was to become debt free. I had been a stay at home mom for 17 years and we had some lingering bills. I got a job and pretty much used every extra dime I earned to pay off various loans. I clipped coupons and shopped the specials. If apples were on sale, we ate apples. If pork was on sale...we ate pork. I didn't spend money to lose weight, and I didn't spend any to keep it off. I am a firm believer of FREE calorie counting, and do at home free and hard working excercise. I am happy to say that as of 1-1-12 my hubby and I are 100% completely and totally debt free. We owe zero dollars and zero cents to anyone! The feeling is just as awesome as losing 190 pounds!! (Now to maintain debt free status!)

Sort of. I wanted to continue to lose weight in 2011. The only real weight goal I set (and not at the beginning of the year for that matter) was to be 175lbs by Halloween, well, I got that.

I'm not at my final goal yet but I would like to be there by the end of 2012 but I'm not going to stress out if I'm not there either as long as I continue to lose or at the very least maintain my current loss. Our bodies are crazy and life can throw a lot of unexpected things in your way that it's hard to set time goals. I know just where I want to be eventually.

FWIW, I've been at this journey for over 1.5lbs. The thing that's really kept me going is changing my routines, getting into the habit of eating healthy, exercise etc. I've never made big changes, but always small changes that I knew I could stick to and build from there. I'm not perfect but I don't beat myself up over it either. I just pick up and go the next day.

Good luck and maybe take this year to see what small changes you can make to improve your health. Once you have those down make some more.

Well, my resolution was in June rather than January, and I had succeeded by October of that year. My new goal is to maintain the weight I've lost.

I made my goal in 2011, but I only recommitted to weight loss in March 2011. In that time, March 10-Dec.31, I lost 118 pounds. I calorie counted, wrote all foods eaten in a journal, keep going even when I didn't want to, exercised, made commitments to fitness goals, and focused on a plant-based diet and a little fish. One thing that helped me a lot was reading Dr. Judith Beck's books. For me, there is a huge emotional aspect to eating, and I am a recovered binge/emotional eater. Her program was a huge benefit to me and I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to reestablish a healthy relationship with food.

My revelation was in April....I started out with a January resolution and it lasted a day or two. In April, I realized I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I just declared THIS IS NOT THE LIFE I WANT TO LIVE. I prayed because I realized that I was letting food control me. I literally had to start telling myself several times of day....I am in control of me! My motto was: "That was last year!" I ate like an out of control nut in 2010. In 2011, it had to be different. I wanted the ME in the mirror to be the same as the ME in my head (they looked completely different). Then I looked at what all of the years of horrible eating did to my body and declared that it was my last year....praying the plane seatbelt fit, jumping through hoops to make sure I didn't get the middle seat, wearing clothes that made me look like Mrs. Potato head, hiding from my husband's friends.....

Since April 2011, I've gone from a 22/24 (very close to simple 24s) to a regular XL/14W. I'm shooting for a 12 for now.....

I didn't start in January of last year, I started in June 2010, and achieved my goal of 100 pounds lost in June 2011. I wish I could point to something magical that made the difference, but really I was just fed up. I do give my kids credit for giving me motivation, I had a baby girl in Jan 2010 and already had a 2 year old son, and I wanted to be active and fit for them. But it was more for me. My knees had started to hurt, and I was just sick and tired of feeling crappy about my body. My life is so different today than it was. I feel incredible in my skin and can do things I couldn't even imagine doing before - and I love the freedom. I love shopping in whatever store I want to (although I usually just try on and then leave...lol....can't afford to buy everything I want!! ) I love hiking and biking (well at least before it got to 20 below!! brrr ). Anyways find your motivation any way you can, it is so worth it. My only regret is I waited so long to feel this way!!

I set a goal of losing 80 pounds for 2011 and I did it... But then gained at the very end of year over the holidays to lose that goal in the end. But... I'm not upset about it. I'm still 73 pounds lighter than I was last year and a heck of a lot fitter. I also met my exercise goal of walking 1000 miles. I'm doing a similar goal this year but counting it in hours instead.

I didn't really go into 2011 with any sort of weightloss goal. I kind of stopped trying last year, and just tried to maintain. After 2 1/2 years of steadly losing weight, I felt like I needed it. Over the course of the year, I lost 20 pounds, with 8 of those comming off since I joined here in Nov. and started up again.

Hoping this is the last year i'll have to do this. I'm about 15 pounds away from my goal, and I have a year to lose it. This will be the last year.

I started March 2010, and reached my original goal of 145 (44 pounds lost) in February 2011. I went on to lose 10 more pounds and maintain that for 7 months. My goal for 2012 is fitness and re-composition. I want to be strong enough to not have to ask the boys for help.

In December 2010 I lost eight pounds and wanted to continue that into 2011. Unfortunately I went back to my old habits and just maintained that 8 pound loss into 2011. In May I started again and made my goal in December!

I actually made my original goal (140) in November! Then I passed my second goal to get where I am now.
