Newspaper article

Hi guys!

Some of you might remember that I asked for opinions here about whether I should let a local reporter do an article on me for the newspaper. Opinions ran from one side to the other and after much thought, I decided to do the interview.

It came out in today's paper. I'm overall happy with the article - I am disappointed that he didn't say that I have more to lose, which I told him - I don't want people thinking that what I look like now means that I am done. I also think the photo of me is terrible.

But for anyone who's interested....

You look great.

You look lovely and it was a very nice article. Only thing that bugged me was the constant referencing you as Mrs. Hudson Mosher. Bad journalist style and irks my feminist side, but other than that the article says it like it is with weight loss and that was refreshing. No magic tricks or pills, just one good decision followed by another for the long haul.

 I thought that was weird too

I think its a great article! Its very inspiring. So many people lose weight with the "gimmicks" like pills and specialized diets. That works for some people, I guess, but I can't be on a diet where I don't get to make the decisions. My thing is that it is up to me to decide what I eat and how much I exercise. If I succeed, its my success. If I fail, its my failure. Its all on me, and that's what works for me.

I also think you look great! Although the photo is taken from a strange angle. I have a feeling you appear even slimmer in reality. Your hair is very pretty.

Did he report your answers correctly? Are you satisfied with how he described your journey (beyond forgetting to report you weren't finished)?

Yeah, I think the angle is what makes it look so bad. He took dozens of pictures and this was the best? Yikes!!

I would say that he reported my answers well - although he took certain quotes from different parts of the interview and put them together as if it was one conversation. I talked a lot about the importance of exercise and doing research into foods which didn't really make it in. I also really stressed about not expecting this to be a fast process but more of a long journey.

I think the overall "feel" of the article was fair and he was very enthusiastic about doing it, and I think he enjoyed writing it. I just hope that it helps other people - for me it was about that, not about tooting my own horn.

I think this is a great article! Very inspiring to everyone in your community who is thinking about or wanting to loose weight but doesn't think they can do it. It is very refreshing to see positive news and to see weight loss reported as doable instead of all the diet pills, lypo and belly band surgery as the answers.
Way to go! I am glad you decided to do this interview and be a spokesperson for good health.
