I'm New!! + Android Apps...
Greetings All, I'm new here!
Real quick about me....I am a 32 year old Microbiologist living in NJ. About 6 or 7 years ago I was very heavy weighing in the 250's. I got my weight down into the 180's and that's the lowest I ever saw. Then I bounced around 200 for a while and recently my weight has crapt back up to 218 :nono: It's been a long time since I've seriously committed to weight loss, but I'm ready! So my first question: Who here uses an app on their smart phone to help them with weight loss? I have an Android phone and I'd like to find an app that has a food journal and/or exercise tracker that I can use from my phone or from my home computer. Also, I don't want a pay one, looking for a free one first. Any suggestions? Thanks! |
I have the lose it app, sparkpeople, mapmywalk, but I rarely use them now a days.

my fitness pal and fat secret are the 2 I've used. Love fat secret. I'm currently using the WW app (which is paid) but before that I used the 2 free apps I mention both have websites and synch to your phone app.

I like spark people. The food and workout tracker are amazing!

I use myfitnesspal ... Love it:)

I use MyFitnessPal and its great! You can take pictures of barcodes and it inputs the calories for you. Very convenient!
If you go for walks/jogs/runs I suggest RunKeeper. It tracks your route via GPS. But if I remember correctly, it interferes with phone calls. |
Noom!
Great if you already know or can guess the calories in the food you eat and if you don't really care about having a record of every single thing you ate. For every meal and snack, you just select the number of calories you ate and if what you ate was "great", "bad" or "OK" eg: 50 calories good = veggies 200 calories Ok = pasta 200 calories Ok= chicken 50 calories bad = oil only you just choose the amount of cals without having to write in the food items It's my dream come true because it helps me journal my food without having to enter exact amounts or to choose from lists every single thing I eat. It's very "flexible", but it probably won't suit everyone. It also selects your daily allowance based on your current weight and how fast you want to lose, and the allowance goes down as you become closer to goal. |
