Congratulations Melissa! 100 lbs is quite a milestone. You are an inspiration!

MariaS 11-22-2011 03:09 PM

Congratulations on reaching a 100 pounds loss, that's just so amazing! I can't wait until I can come on here and post the same thing.

berryblondeboys 11-22-2011 03:53 PM

It kind of freaks me out that I used to weigh 100 pounds more. Like, REALLY? I only weighed 275 for a couple years, but I was 265 for years and years (like 5-6). I've been over 235 for about 15 years give or take a wee bit of time that I lost briefly. So, this new slimmer (and fitter) body is all new. I still don't believe those jeans fit me when I pull them out of the dryer!

CherryPie99 11-22-2011 04:44 PM

First off, CONGRATS on the 100 pounds gone forever. Secondly, I know that this is totally selfish of me, but your post made me feel so much better that I'm not the only one struggling with this! I'm quite proud of the progress I've made, but then I get in shorts and do something like planks and see that huge GLOB of stomach that seems to hang almost to the floor and I really want to cry sometimes.

I hold on to hope that with some more weight loss and some time, that will go away. I hope all the floppies go away for you, too!

Congratulations on your 100lb loss! Amazing work, and you should only feel pride and accomplishment for reaching that goal.

I, too, have some jiggly bits, and I know that some of it will firm up over time as the skin regains some of it's elasticity and as I tone up in the gym, but I also know that some of it will stay where it is. It's okay!

We all have issues with our body that we're less than proud of; some people have more hair on their body than they'd prefer, some have an eye or hair color they don't appreciate, some bemoan their straight hair, others their curly hair; some are unhappy being of smaller stature, some are unhappy with their feet size or width, some carry scars or stretch marks. None of us are perfect in our human form, but what is most important is that inner strength that has led you to where you are right now. Be happy with all that your body can do! I have stretch marks from 5 pregnancies, including a set of twins, and they'll never go away; I always think of these lines from a Brandi Carlile song;

All of these lines across my face
Tell you the story of who I am.
So many stories of where I've been.
And how I got to where I am...

Think of how you've got to where you are, and embrace and love the body that helped you reach this milestone!

on the contrary, she was probably thinking, "I hope I can still do that when I'm her age!" :)

You are amazing! Congrats on 100!! Wow. It's funny, I think we all somewhere deep down hope that we will look like 19 year olds when we lose the weight. Even if we logically know it's not happening... there is still that glimmer of irrational hope. You had that 19 year old literally in your face today. I am sorry it put a bit of a damper on your big day.

Unna 11-23-2011 06:09 AM

I somewhat agree with Emerald Eyes, you have no idea what she was thinking. Her odd expression could have meant "My god - when is this going to be over!". Maybe you were close to her and she was worried about getting hit.

I notice my jiggling arms all the time - but no one else seems to. I even asked one of my most honest friends if she ever noticed my jiggly arms - she never did, not until I pointed them out!

I popped on today after not being on the site much lately, and this was the first post I looked at. I was on a lot right when you first started here and I remember thinking, this lady's one to watch! hahaha Can I call 'em or what?! :D

I just wanted to chime in that I know just how you feel (well, except that I'm still over 200 lbs and not SURE I could out-zuumba a 19 year old quite YET). I'm sagging all over the place at this point, and still have a considerable amount of weight to lose. I think every day, though, about how much I appreciate this body. What it has come back from, amazing! PLaces I can squeeze into, how I look in clothes, the sparkle in my hub's eyes when I get dolled up. I just got back from Disney. The last time I was there was at my all-time high weight. What a different experience it was this time!!

I know you are appreciating all this as much as I am! :) And I know we'll have our "moments" from time to time. But maybe we get to sag a bit so the rest of the world can even handle us now! :p Have a blast!

Shannon - you made my day. I knew you were going to make it too. You can feel it in your posts. You had quit smoking too, right? (or were attempting to as I recall from a post).

And you are right. Now is soooooo much better. A year ago Thanksgiving I felt so horrible. I was having daily headaches - all day headaches. I was sleeping horribly. I just felt barely alive. What a difference a year makes!

Cheering for you too Shannon! Your journey has been amazing! (and you need to post here more often - I love your posts!)

shannonmb 11-23-2011 10:12 AM

 You made my day, too, Melissa. I hope you have the best Thanksgiving EVER!

P.S. I did quit smoking, too! Wooo!!!

Chubbykins 11-23-2011 11:19 AM

First of all congrats on 100 pounds lost!!!

As far as the loose skin is concerned, just wear flattering clothes. No matter what your weight is everyone wears flattering clothes. Skinny girls wear boob+ clothing, booty-girls wear high waist jeans etc. Having some loose skin is just another thing to dress around. Corsets are sexy, elbow long tops are classy etc

:) It is part of the dressing up thrill to find clothes that suit you.

Congrats on 100 pounds gone!!!!! :cheer: :broc: WTG!!!! :D

I totally agree with you though - I feel a million times better with 100 pounds gone and the extra skin to go with it - and hopefully it will get better with time too (so far, it's a bit better for me, and it's only been 5 months).

And I'm with you on getting those jeans on right out of the dryer, every day is still such a miracle to me - when I hold them up and can't believe they'll go on and do up, when in reality they're even a bit loose!! It's nuts!!! :dizzy: :)

I had a situation at zumba where a girl really did say out loud, "I hope my legs don't look like hers" when she was looking dead at me... but she also doesn't work out as hard as I do. It made me a little upset but not really. It just makes me work harder. I'm doing strength training to help out my muscles!
