Actually, I went to Walmart yesterday and bought 2 pairs of jeans. Still $20 each, gees. $9.99 jeans anymore? lol
And I love them. I used to be very bottom heavy and it seemed like walmart really made my um curves, look huge!! Now I don't have that problem. But I must say I'm a cheap skate. I was annoyed spending $20 on jeans.

Haha I don't blame you! I won't spend that much on jeans unless they're really awesome or something. I always wait for sales/coupons.

Especially after that clearance sale at Old Navy (I'm sorry I keep mentioning it, I just did so awesome!) where I got jeans at less than $4 each :x

I love shopping at Walmart now and just because the price tag is cheap doesn't mean they don't look good! I'm quite fashionable and find great buys there my friends are shocked that the clothing's from walmart. It's not about how much you pay it's how you carry yourself. If your confidence shows you could be wearing a potato sack and still work it! As a side note everything I'm wearing in my avatar except my jeans (jeans were on sale at Winners!) are from walmart, hat included!

I want to know why plus size clothing is 5 times more expensive.

I've wondered that too, and I always thought cause they use more material?? I have no idea!

But yeah I also hate spending 20 bucks on jeans! lol

I have SOOO noticed this! I also know why: I am an all belly girl. Have always had nice muscular legs, but no butt, no hip, and all belly - SOOOO hard to find plus pants for that, so would end up spending more when a particular look was needed. Now that I am into the sizes I can wear now, it's SOOO much easier - but also because the belly balances out more. I don't have to shop expensive though, I am a big thrift store shopper! I LOVE my thrift shops! Don't get me wrong, I have a few pieces from Macy's clearance racks and such, but I have pieced them together with my thrift store finds and constantly get compliments with what I wear :) Matter of fact, I am usually even a bargain shopper at the thrift stores...this one that a local church program runs, I wait..every other Saturday they do half off pricing! :) Have gotten amazing deals! So much easier to find clothes now that I am balanced out too - don't have to try on the jeans so maticulously looking anymore... if it fits the belly, then they fit right everywhere now! Yay for having more fun shopping! Now just have work getting more $ for shopping, LOL!

Yeah, Walmart carried plus sizes, but I always felt that the larger sizes in department stores looked better. The smaller I get, the more I feel like I can put on a pair of jeans off the clearance rack at Walmart, and still look good.
Does anyone else notice this? Or is it just me??

I definitely noticed this the last time I lost a lot of weight.

Something similar to this was actually a HUGE motivation behind my getting back on the wagon and losing weight again, because I"m the biggest I've ever been and I realized going to Value Village (thrift store) one day and going through the jeans rack where I normally get all my pants, that the over-size-18 area was pretty much void of pants save for a few ugly ones. And I'm wearing a size 18 now so I quickly realized that this is it. Right here. I'm at the limit. I can't afford to buy expensive clothes (I do walmart and thrift stores), I can't afford to pay $60+ for a pair of jeans.

So I need to lose weight before I can't afford to clothe myself any longer :D

It really can't even be that, and I always thought it was bogus that they would charge more. I thought of it as a "fat tax" almost.

Why did I think it's bogus? I was always at the end of the regular sizes/beginning of the plus sizes. I shopped at a lot at stores that the plus size and regular sizes overlapped (i.e. regular sizes go up to 16 or 18, plus size starts at 12 or 14, so there's an overlap) and even when you would have the same size in plus and regular, the plus would still be more expensive—just because it's plus!

Because they can charge more. I mean, if you are solidly plus sized, you can't buy clothes at 'regular' stores. You're pretty much stuck shopping at the select few stores, so they know they have you over a barrel.

Makes me so stinkin mad. I'm cheap.

A plus 16 is bigger than a misses 16, though. I'm not saying I think it's fair to charge more for plus sizes - as far as I know, they don't charge LESS for petites and they use even less fabric, right? lol! But they say they base the charge on it being a plus sized line regardless of the size within the line, because it has to get cut and manufactured separately from the misses sizes.

LOL, the petite line made me laugh!

But then why don't they charge more for misses and less for plus? I know, supply and demand...I'm just being facetious, lol.

I'm not a big clothes hound, nor a brand "snob" and I shop my share of walmart, target and kmart, for sure. Kohl's can be a great bargain on sale too. Even Sears or Penneys. You'll never find me at Talbots or Lord N Taylor or the like--I just can't afford it, and, I just don't care that much. No matter my size, and perhaps I'm not that picky, I find clothing wherever I shop, and think I look just fine and even more so applaud myself for getting a bargain. However, I like a leather shoe. Doesn't have to be an expensive leather shoe, but I can't wear plastic or man-made shoes. My toes need to breathe.

I've found that some of Walmart's clothing is better made than Lane Bryant and Fashion Bug (and there aren't many other plus size options).

Most of my clothes come either from second-hand shops or an online clearace shop for Redcat stores including Woman Within, Roaman's, Avenue, Jessica London, King Size Direct (a big and tall men's catalog).

I also occasionally shop Kohl's, Catherine's, JC Penney, Fashion Bug, and Lane Bryant when I get coupons in the mail. I especially love the coupons that have a dollar value, but no spending minimum.

Recently I got two $15 coupons on a purchas of $15 or more at Lane Bryant. I shopped the clearance racks and found long sleeve pima cotton and spandex t-shirts for $5.99. I ended up spending less than $10 on 7 tops.

On the BCOutlet.com, I recently bought drawstring jersey-knit pants for $4.88 each (and a swimsuit for under $20). I used online coupon codes to get free shipping on one order, and 30% off the highest item on a second order.

My nicest clothes come from the second-hand shops, and I'm finally getting into more common sizes, so I can usually find something that fits (and sometimes some very high-end clothes that still have the original tags on them).

I've gotten some very nice sweaters, for less than 10% of what it would have cost me, had I bought them new (which I wouldn't have been able to do).

Getting a $90 never-been-worn, still-tagged sweater for $4, is a rush.
