Inches lost during weight loss

I was bored today and I was trying to figure out the rate of inches lost on my waist. When I was around 225lbs my waist was about 40 inches and I hit 32" somewhere in the mid-170's, which means I lost ~8" with a ~50lb loss. That means about 6-7lbs/inch. However, I know a lot of those came off in a close period of time when I started weight training so it's actually probably closer to 10lbs/inch.

So, I was just curious at what rate others are losing? I'd like to get down to a 28" waist (i.e. another 4" loss) but I have less than 40lbs to lose so now I'm wondering if that's going to be possible anymore. Anybody see their weight finally come off of their worst area close to hitting goal? I know when I hit goal I can always reevaluate but I also have very little desire to go any lower than 140lbs so I'm so hoping this weight budges soon! :p

I didn't start where you did, so I'm not sure how helpful my thoughts will be, but here goes. :)

I started with measurements of

34 (underbust)
32 (waist)
39 (lower waist/jelly donut)
44 (hips)

And I've managed to lose 16.5 inches total so far. My last inch has just come off my lower waist in the past week or so (not typical for me at all).

My most difficult area has been the lower waist I'd say (where the slightly sticky-outie tummy bit is) and it took me almost 30 pounds to lose 3.5 inches in that area. I'm not too far from my goal now, and I'm still losing weight in my most problematic areas (donut and hips areas), but I'm also not expecting to try and lose a lot of inches in the next 15 pounds or so.

I'd say based on that, you might be able to get to a 28 inch waist, but it does depend on your body and how cooperative it is, as well as your natural body type. :)

Don't know if that was any help at all, but might give you a bit of a starting point. :)

ahhh, i really don't remember specifics! i wish i did!! i know my hips and bust were in the low 50s, waist in the 40s??? my measurements now are 39-28-42

You probable can do it..it is achievable....it all depends on your body. I was 172 at 5ft 4" and my natural waist has gone down to 26 inches (from about 31/32 inches) and my pooch to 29 inches. I lost just over 40lbs and lost it everywhere- face, hands, thighs, hips, waist, belly, boobs, foot (you get the pic). I think you might find it getting close to your target waist measurement when you have lost the 32lbs....good luck!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. :D I mean the weight has to come off somewhere, right? Why not my waist. ;)

d130- It's interesting that you're also seeing roughly the 10lb per inch correlation in your trouble spot.

gagalu- wow, that's a huge loss! Congrats!

kimmieval- oh,that's encouraging! hopefully i also see a similar loss in the next 32lbs. :D
