I always aim for 1200. Sometimes it's less, sometimes it's more (If I happen to be hungry that day, I'll aim for 1400); often times I'm usually right there.
I exercise 5-6 days a week, usually for 45min to an hour. Sometimes on Sundays I'll go for a bike ride with my brother even though I've been to the gym that day. It's a leisurely bike ride though :) I feel that 1200 is enough for me and I sometimes have to force myself to eat that much. It's amazing how much less you eat when you eliminate eating from boredom! |

I'm at 1700 calories/day right now. I'm exercising a lot and lifting 3x/week so this keeps me going through all of that. I also want to be building muscle, so I know I need to eat (and eat good quality food). I wouldn't say that I'm "eating back" exercise calories, but I do want to keep that calorie deficit under control to a certain extent.

I'm eating about 1200 calories a day (at least this week) I went up to 1500 last week, but noticed I stopped losing weight, dropped back down to 1200 and bam! 2 lbs fell off! But, I'm not really excersising regularly right now either. I may walk 30 mins a night. But like others have said, just see what works better for your body. Good Luck!!

I aim for about 1800ish cals a day and every 5th day I have a splurge meal which usually puts me around 2400 or so. I am not very consistent in my workouts but try to get them in when I can. Sometimes i will eat back some of the cals burned.
400 cals for 30 mins exercise is pretty high. I wear a heart rate monitor when I work out and last week did a Zumba and tone class that was 60 mins and my AVG HR was about 80% and I burned 466 cals. I agree with maybe eating back about 100-200 cals of your workout to be on the safe side. |
1350. Most days I don't go over 1200 though. I have trouble keeping my calories below like 20000 when i'm pmsing so I allow myself to eat less when i'm not.

I aim for an average of 1,500 cals a day. If I exercise I figure the machine overestimates the amount of calories I burned, for example if my elliptical says I burned 400 calories I assume it's more like 250. I do eat back about half of that number (the lower number) b/c when I exercise I am STARVING for the rest of the day. So on an exercise day my cals will be more like 1,600 or 1,700.

1200-1500 depending on activity level.

I try and do between 1400-1800 :)

I definitely 'eat back' some of my cals if I burn 600+. Like, every weekend, I go for a long run. A 5-7 mile run according to a heart rate monitor, burns 1100-1600, which I translate as 900-1300 just to allow for margin of error. I do eat some of those cals back, because if I eat really low cal that day, I am tired for days. I feel like your body when you do really intense exercise for an hour or more, you need a few hundred calories to help your body repair and refuel. I am tired for days if I don't eat a little bit back. I'm not talking eating all of it back, but maybe a few hundred cals. On my normal days, I only burn 500 or less so I don't eat anything back. I've lost 54 pounds since March

In general I stick to 1200 solid. It's enough food for me on most days. If I'm really hungry one day I'll go more like 1300. I spend most of my life in my room studying or sitting in class, so I don't really need a lot of calories to keep up with my lifestyle.
