I work in a very laid back atmosphere (seriously, I can wear tshirts, shorts & flip flops to work!) but I had to buy a nice pair of black dress pants yesterday (for a very special meeting today) and the pair I bought is a size 12. A few years ago, I was quite upset that I had to buy "a size 12" because I'd gained 10 pounds. Now that I've lost 30+ pounds, I feel pretty darn happy at a size 12, as opposed to a very tight size 14 (I should have been in a size 16 at 192 pounds, but I was too darn stubborn to go up another size, so I kept squeezing my big ol'butt into a 14!!!) And I am looking forward to a size 10 in a few months.
I remember when I first hit a size 10... I was 32 years old and had reached a high weight of 152. I felt like a beached whale. Pictures of me then were so.... distorted, in my eyes. BUT NOW!- now I look so forward to a size 10, I can't tell you how giddy I am at the thought of it!
What size/weight did you used to consider fat that you now consider thin?
Last time I lost weight I started at 149 and thought I was huge, I lost 30 pounds. Then I gained it all back plus another 30 pounds. This time around I am almost back to 149 and I am feeling pretty good about myself.
I remember the first time I had to buy a size 10 I was pretty disturbed by it, ha. Now that I'm a 14, 10 is my first goal. I'm actually already fitting into size 12s and looooooooooving it.
Sizing has changed so much that I can't make sense out of it anymore. I initially wore a size 18 or 20 when I first decided to lose weight. At my low weight of 142, I wore a petite 14. Right now a regular size 16 works. Or a 2 in some sizing schemes. But I've decided I don't care about what an arbitrary label says. Does the clothing item fit? Am I comfortable in it? Does it look good? That's all I care about.
Size 12 with a few 14's. That was my highest that I got to pre-pregnancy and I felt huge there. However, going back down I was THRILLED to be in a 12! It definitely changes your perspective, doesn't it?
Oh, and being over 200lbs. I remember telling myself when I was younger I'd NEVER get over 200lbs (most females on my mom's side are all over 200lbs). Yeah, then pregnancy happened. Going down reaching Onderland was my first mini-goal so that was exciting.
A size 10 used to be my fat. At my highest, I was squishing into a 14. When I reached a 10, I was over the moon. The pants I'm wearing now are a Juniors 5. They are super snug and a big Juniors 5. I am thrilled I can fit in them (enough) to wear to work with a long top. At my thinnest, I was a size 3/4, these were my "fat pants."
I don't know what weight I was when I was in middle school/beginning of high school, but I felt HUGE. I was a size 11/13/15 when I went into high school and once I got into high school I gained a lot of weight.
When I was going back down, I was THRILLED to fit into my old size 11 dress and middle school clothes; I felt so small, haha! It actually worked out well because I fit in my summer middle school/high school clothes and didn't really have to buy much this summer.
I remember being 123lbs and freaking out that I was so heavy. For the record, I also freaked out when I was 118. Now, I'd be so happy to be at either weight and corresponding size. I was teeny tiny!
A size 12 is what used to a size 16. So, I don't really feel skinny in a 12 because I'm 180 plus pounds and I know 25 years ago that would have meant a size 16 which was the largest misses size you could normally find. I remember hitting a 16 at age 18 and 175 pounds and I thought I was a huge whale. Now I'm thrilled to get there. But 18 and 41 years old I have different perspectives. It's more 'ok' to be a bit overweight at 41 than at 18 in most people's minds anyhow and fashion is definitely more flattering with those with a bit of fluff than they used to be too.
I was a size 14 at age 18, and thought I was HUGE!! But 10 years later I was a size 24 and that size 14 sounded pretty good. Lol. I'm currently in a 16 and feel pretty darn confident! Can't wait to get into that 14 in my closet
All the women in my family are very tiny and I used to be too. I was mortified when I hit size 10 (double digits, OMG!), but now that a size 16 is a snug fit, I would kill to get back into a 10.
Oh i TOTALLY know what you mean. I am currently a size 12 and I was SO EXCITED to get there lol. I mean over the moon...and I felt so skinny coming from a size 18. Back in high school I was mostly a size 8-10. Then after gaining a few pounds I was forced to wear a 12 and I was so depressed about it. It's funny how perspective changes things!
145 was my "scary weight" in high school - I thought I was HUGE at 140. The 150s were completely unthinkable. Now, I would adore to be that thin again.
I never really thought about my weight untill 2010. On New Years I tried to put on my jeans (size 4) and couldn't. I wore a skirt, so be it ,whatever, I thought. Went shopping next week and found out I couldn't fit into 5s...Had to buy 7s!! Little did I know, I needed a 9 because after the first wash couldn't fit into the 7s. That's when I realized that I've gained and I need to lose. Currently wearing 7s but I wish I could fit into those 4s again... my fav jeans
