  • I know that when most people post threads on 3FC about family members it's usually to complain. Fortunately, this post is a rave.

Today, I saw my husband's family for the first time since we all got together in June. I've lost about 30 pounds since seeing them last.

I walked in the door today for my nephew's 1st birthday party, and they swarmed me. First, on the walk in, my sister in law said, "Katie, just how much weight have you lost? You look AMAZING!" Then all of his relatives were circling me, telling me I look great, how much they love me in contacts, what did I do to lose the weight. They were all careful to say, "Not that you weren't beautiful before, but you just look great." All of their compliments were just overwhelming, especially since the people I'm around day to day - my less-than-stellar coworkers - put me down.

I can definitely relate to the women on the boards who say their minds haven't caught up with their bodies yet. There are times when I look in the mirror and think Wow, that's really me? But then there are also times that I wonder if people who haven't seen me in a while will even notice a difference because it's not that noticeable, at least that's how I feel when I'm thinking about it.

It just made me feel great and helped motivate me to keep doing what I'm doing. Now I think If I look that much better now, how much better can I look at goal?
  • that's wonderful!!! It feels great to have someone notice the weight loss, that gives you motivation!!! Congratulations!!!
  • Thanks, lucy! That is so true. When people notice, it makes me want to throw on my gym clothes and run to my workout! (Which I'm about to do this very second! Woot!)
  • Aww! Loved reading this What a great group of people, and how sweet that they're so happy for you!
  • Thats great to hear that you got some much deserved positive attention for all your hard work! It feels so good when people truly are happy for you when you lose weight. I know what you mean by mind not catching up with your body. I wonder if it ever does? Lol I know mine hasn't!
  • Congratulations!! That is so awesome. It warms my heart when I hear of successes such as this!

Oh, and how have you been losing your weight?
  • That's wonderful! It's so nice to hear about people being kind and genuine to the people they care about rather than all the disheartening stories of rudeness, snide comments and backhanded compliments that get passed around so often.
  • Lovely to hear that you got such great feedback and support. Congratulations on you in-laws and your successes!
  • Awesome

I've read about your idiot coworkers in other posts and I'm so glad that your in-laws are so supportive and complimentary to balance out the jerks you're around at work!
