Eek!!
My sis brought me a yogurt today. Breyers fruit on the bottom. 170 calories, 27 Grams of sugar & 31 grams of carbs. Why would you eat this? I'd rather have ice cream if I'm gonna eat that.

I know what you mean. Every now and again when I'm at the grocery store I stop and look at the flavored yogurts, as I used to love them. But then I look at the sugar content and calorie count and that immediately makes me put it back. I can always add fresh fruit to my plain yogurt -- much better!

And Greek yogurt is so much creamier and satisfying for 100 calories. I smiled nicely and thanked her. The kids ate it lol.

A lot of people still think of any yogurt as a healthy, lo-cal food. Some is, like Greek Yogurt, but as you said, I'd rather have an ice cream cone for all of that sugar. Some of these companies have a way of taking something that should be healthy and making it very unhealthy, unfortunately.

I never understood yogurt. When I eat I want to CHEW something. And when I did eat yogurt I was desperately scraping the bottom of the container with my spoon (or finger!) because I was still starving! Those yogurt and cereal commercials with these skinny women in pastel workout clothes drive me nuts!

After switching to Greek yogurt, I can't believe I ever ate the regular, sugary Dannon crap. Gross.

Am I the only one who doesn't think 170 calories is that bad for a snack? I eat greek yoghurt (167 calories) and strawberries for my afternoon snack some days and I think it's a perfectly reasonable number of calories for a yoghurt?! The carb content (or better, sugar content) is another thing though. I'd 10 x rather eat a high fat, reasonably high calorie, low sugar plain yoghurt than one of those manky low calorie, full of aspartame things you can get for under 50 calories. Bleugh!

I like yogurt ... I like Stonyfield Organic. It sometimes adds a little something to a lackluster breakfast for me.
I use Greek Yogurt for dessert usually by adding in agave, honey or maple syrup. To each their own. |
I can have a Light & Fit strawberry yogurt AND 1/2 cup of cottage cheese for 20g carbs, 16g sugar and 16g protein with 10 calories to spare. Throw in a bag of popcorn and I have my 260 calorie afternoon snack!

I like yogurt too. I eat a Wallaby organic yogurt every day for lunch. It keeps me feeling full, gives me a little desserty feeling, and gives me some extra calcium and protein. Plus, I find that the active cultures make my digestive system happy.
