Digital kitchen Scale
 

I try and measure, Right now I have cups & spoons and an old scale from when I was on LAWeight Loss. Im going to purchase a digital scale, anybody recommend a good one? I'm looking at the biggest loser scale at Walmart, seems good, just wondering what works for others who weigh.

I bought the softworks scale from Target. The digital reader can pull out away from the scale making it easier to read. It's actually been a great feature to have! $29.99

Must be a good scale since Target is all sold out LOL.

I got a Taylor scale from Target for like $30-40. It's fantastic. Having an accurate digital scale completely overhauled my calorie counting! It's so much more accurate!

I have a Taylor scale from Target as well. One of my main concerns when I bought one was that it could handle slightly higher weights so I could measure stuff in my pyrex containers. The only time it ever went wonky was when the battery ran out. Popped in a new battery and worked like new.

I use the biggest loser scale. I got it at Bed bath and Beyond. It works GREAT.

I would suggest a scale with a pull-out display like Sparkly Blonde recommended. It makes weighing portions on a dinner plate really easy. I like my OXO one. Also make sure the scale you get has negative weight so that you can easily weigh your peanut butter and other scoop-able foods.

I've got a Soehnle (the "page" model, which is flat rectangle with a glass top). It's a bit more expensive than the BL scale, but WOW, it's gorgeous. And I want something that I like what it looks like if it's going to be on my kitchen counter all the time.

I use the biggest loser one from walmart, and I love it. I have even borrowed my neighbors' to compare accuracy and it is right on.

I love the simplicity of use. I put on my container/bowl to weigh it, push one button to zero out. Add food item and get weight, zero out again to see what each individual component weighs. No confusion, no math. It can even weigh negative.

It switches from ounces to grams with one button, and it automatically turns itself off after 3 minutes. The platform comes off and on easily to wash if you prefer to put stuff directly on it rather than in another container.

LOVE it, and it was on the cheap.

I got the Biggest Loser one from Bed Bath and Beyond with a $5 coupon so it only cost me $16 -- I love it and don't know what I'd do without it!

Whichever scale you get buy one with a good capacity. Mine holds up to 11 lbs :) Mine is also from Target I believe it's called Perfect Portions or something and I love that scale :)

question about the scales. I am sooo not up on all this so please excuse me if this is a dumb question;) How do you measure it if you want cups or Tbs's? Do you have a weight conversion that comes with the scale, or on line or something?

You can look up online how much like a cup of something weighs. I believe 1 cup of lettuce is like 6 oz, etc. It's actually more accurate to count calories by weighing than using measuring cups.

I wanna say the limit on the BL one is 6 pounds, and I paid $18 at walmart.com

As for conversions, weight is MUCH more accurate a measurement but if you need to convert I use livestrong.com to track and usually there are options for each. When I enter a food I can enter it as servings, cups, grams, etc and track calories automatically by any measurement. It's a free site so if you only used it for that it wouldn't matter, but it is awesome for managing/tracking.

Oh Yenny that was a great question! I was thinking about that as well but figured i'd just use my spoons for stuff like peanut butter. I think I'm going to go with the biggest loser scale. It has a 6.6 lbs capacity. Is this sufficient for weighing the food and the container/plate?
