KFR that is funny. I don't think they would do very much business.
I am with you Dena, Ebe how could you cut your beautiful hair? Jane you really aren't that far and you have only been to Ponchy a few times? Not that I blame you, not to much to day here. We usually go to New Orleans or Baton Rouge. I have set a goal of 7 lbs by Jan. 25. As of today I have lost 6.5. I am sure that I can do it now. I want to be at 149 for my birthday on July 1. I think that might actually happen. |
Kempy, congratulations on your weightloss. Wow, excellent job! Do you have much to go?
As for my day today~~ I hate interviews! I never know if I say the right thing. And apparently this is the 1st group of interviews and they have a slew of applicants. Next~~ I wanted to come home and smother myself with comfort food. I don't know how I did it, but I mustered enough energy and went for a walk instead. Then after lunch I went to the gym for an hour and a half. I'm starting to follow your lead, Ebe. Okay, time to start dinner. |
I only have 8 lbs to go. So I am keeping my fingers crossed.
Dena I wouldn't worry about the job interview. So when they call you telling you that you got it you will be truly excited! I am sure that you did fine. I think we all hate interviews. That is why I try not to leave a job once I find one that I like. |
Wow, that is so cool, Kempy! The way you were talking at Christmas I thought you had a long way. Congratulations! No wonder you had guys turning their heads! :)
How long have you been at your current job? Do you have a lot of experience in fitness? Thanks for the encouraging words. I apprecialte them so much. |
dena i bet you did great in the interview. man interviews are totally evil.....crossing my fingers for you!
i was thinking of you at the gym today! :) made me work a little harder.....i was so pissed because i kept getting stiches in my side when i tried to run so i worked around it, doing everything i could think of until i couldn't do anymore....my legs are sooo sore right now and i was drenched in sweat....i seem to be the sweatiest person there, it makes me really self conscious... working out is good to do when theres lots of things bugging you because if you really work it you can't think of much at all except for breathing, which is gooooood :) oh and to answer your question, i live on long island...pretty close to the city, its 40 minutes on the train. i don't really like the suburbs here as much as i did in georgia, we lived outside of atlanta....the area i'm in now is pretty urban theres tons of traffic tons of cement and houses that are too close together. the nice thing is that my bfs parents have a nice house on the water so its pretty sweet and his mom is really into gardening so everything around it looks beautiful. its an ok place really just everything is so packed in...the north shore of long island isn't like that so much....its a little more.....verdant i guess..lots of pizza places around here...like every block. and its not that good either, which is surprising...but there you go :) jojo you must have had some wild times traveling around....you must have some interesting stories :) and thank you for the compliment :) kempy congratulations! 8 pounds by july. now that sounds reasonable!....thats the kind of pace that is doable. you'll probably blow by that mark way before then :) jane ya tell us more about your plan etc :) i wish i was on maintanence! hoooooo boy i have a few pounds to lose. but all in due time... my boyfriend keeps the nastiest junk food around too...i mean its not that bad really, i just try to ignore it....lime tostitos are my weakness...droooooool thanks everyone for the nice words on the pic :) definately extra incentive to work hard at the gym. ooooh and the trainer guy introduced himself to me today. he was really nice.....he seems really friendly. i always get confused by guys that are friendly to everyone....at first its like theres some vibe there, and then you think oh wait maybe he just is nice to everyone i can't tell!! ah signals.....but its a moot point since i have a boyfriend and its all just hypothetical...but still.....he is cute, gotta have something to think about while i exercise  and if lazy bf would just come with me.... but if he doesn't want to....what can i do :s: ah i'm so bad....must stop that! |
My plan...well, it's pretty radical...but if it catches on I think I may figure out a way to market it and make a cool million. I call it..."Eat Less, Exercise More". What do you think--way over the top?? :)
Year before last I went through this same "don't wanna be frumpy no more" thing ...tipped the scales at about 190 then and one morning it hit me that I almost weighed **two hundred pounds** --that was kind of my epiphany. I've always been, um, buxom, but I had crossed over... So I counted calories, JOURNALED so I was accountable, drank water, started walking and wiggled to the occasional exercise tape...and I think most important of all, found an online support group at cyberdiet... Lost over 40 pounds over the course of about 7-8 months, despite having a hysterectomy in there somewhere. I was so proud of myself! :cp: Size 12 clothes were LOOSE! Then...I stopped walking...went on vacation and ate anything I wanted...started drinking diet coke again instead of so much water...and cyberdiet went to a paid website.... and the pounds crept back on... So, now I'm back again. I figure it worked before, so I'm trying the same methods. One change this time is that I've joined Curves, because it seems to be important for us 40-somethings to have strenth training--plus I'd like to tone up my cottage cheese legs. ugh. I used dietpower software to track food and nutrition before...haven't yet renewed my license...if I don't see results by just cutting back, I'll pony up the 50 bucks. Its really good software for tracking food and also telling you about nutrition intake. And....I hope I've found a new online support group that I can talk to daily and who will help keep me on track! Being accountable helps...helps you walk that extra mile, or go to the gym when you really don't want to, or step away from the Hershey bar... It's nice to have someone there with you! Dena, got my fingers crossed too. Ebe, it sounds pretty where you are on long island...but I think I'd get tired of living in the megalopolis... and go ahead and flirt with the guy--get those juices going! ;) Kempy, i wish I had only 8 pounds to go! Lordy, that seems like a long way off right now... Went to curves tonight and even tried the elliptical trainer. Only did a quarter mile cuz I felt too awkward--my feet kept slipping and knees bumping...but I figure I'll keep trying. Wonder if I'll be sore tomorrow. g'night all! |
I like the sound of your radical plan, Jane - "Eat Less, Exercise More" - it has a compelling ring to it.
If dietpower software costs money, have you tried fitday? It is a freebie, and I've used it for quite some time. Do you like Curves? I have considered it, but haven't decided as yet. The weather turned colder here yesterday, which always makes me hungrier. So much for winter in Wyoming. Another day to stick with our programs. Stay positive, friends, we are a bunch of losers for sure! |
Good Morning, Ladies!
Today I have to do the laundry and clean the house. This is my down day. Some relaxation. But it has to be done. I'm on my second cup of coffee, so that should get me energized to do what has to get done. I'm proud to say right after breakfast, I worked out to a video, so I'm right on track. Determined to be 5 lbs. lighter. Somehow I managed to put those pounds on AFTER New Year. Hello! Most people say they put it on during the holidays. I made up for trying to be good during the holidays. JANE, I use fitday.com quite often. When I first started I sorta followed Richard Simmon's plan. Just making sure I got around 1400 cals a day. He used to have a free website, but now you pay. Then I followed dietwatch.com. That used to be free, too. No longer. I've done the rounds. But it's important to stay as consistent as you can and you will lose again. We're all rooting for ya! EBE, I know what you mean about working out when you need to destress. It has really helped me a lot. Plus I see all the women at the gym working hard at it, too, and that really motivates me to keep going. (It's an all women gym.) Where you live sounds kinda nice. Near the city when you want to go there. I've watched Seinfeld a lot. Do you mean you're 40 minutes from that location? I feel like I know Queens, Manhatten and Long Island from the TV show. Anyway, it sounds cool. JOJO what do you do in Wyoming when it's freezing cold like that? Just stay indoors? I'd want to eat, too. CEEJAY, Are you doing okay? Okay, I've put off the chores long enough. Time to get busy. Byeeeee, D  |
Morning all. Just a quick check in to see if everyone is ok. I have lots of paper work today so I will have to be back later.
|
What? Work before us? ;) We'll be waiting, Kempy.

fitday!
See, this is what I love about a support group. You find out all kinds of neat stuff. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent searching for an alternative to paying for dietpower software, or to dietwatch now that they've become a paid site (they have an online tracking tool, too). I've just signed up for fitday and put my food in for the day....and it's fast and easy and I like it so far! I love that it gives you a running total of not only calories, but nutrients so you can keep track. I also really like that it's online and I can get to it from anywhere. That means I can update at lunch at work if I get a chance, or from any of our computers at home (we have 4 people at home, but only 3 computers and lemme tell you, there is ALWAYS contention for a computer!). With dietpower installed locally, I'd have to wait for *that* computer to be freed up before I could update.
I'm thrilled!:) Jo...my comments about Curves: I like it because 1) it's so close to my house so I can stop there on my way home, or run in on saturday 2) signup special was only $3, monthly $29, and you can quit with little penalty 3) machines at a "real" gym intimidate me, and I'm afraid of hurting myself on them. There's almost no way to hurt yourself on the Curves equipment. 4) I need to add *some* kind of toning/strength training to my routine, and I can do this without having a weight bench and weights hanging around my house. 5) 30-min routine, 3 times a week, is very manageable for my On the other hand...1) am I really working hard enuf? I'm not sore at all after a workout, so am I really doing my body good? It's all based on resitance to hydraulic equipment, so harder you work, more you get...I try to work til muscles are fatigued on each instance 2) hours of operation are not great for me...I tend to work late and I have to *make* myself leave at 6:00 to get there by 6:30 to do a 30min workout. (maybe not a bad thing??) 3) you can tell the ladies who are there (loosely referred to as "trainers" are not fitness experts...but then, do they need to be?? So that's my $.02 worth :) It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, if a bit on the "brisk" side. I'm planning a walk for this evening. Hate having to walk after dark...safety concerns with our serial killer still lurking out there somewhere, but I do stay close to home... I'll check in later. --Jane |
Jane, I'm so happy you like fitday. A lot of us use it here. It keeps us on the right track, and just like you said, you even get a breakdown of carbs, proteins and fats.
Thanks for the info on curves. When I first started exercising, I did 20-40 minutes on the treadmill or just plain walking. I was super intimidated by all the machines. I wasn't sore, either. But little by little the pounds dropped off. Just keep at it. Regarding walking at night~~ It would be a good idea if someone could walk with you... especially with a serial killer on the loose. I've gotten my hubby to walk with me after dinner. Now he feels a lot healthier, too. These are all just suggestions. Hope they will help. Later, D  |
JO I get hungier in the cold too. Thank goodness we don't have to many cold days here.
Jane don't worry to much, like you said you did it before you can do it agian. Trust me Dena I didn't want to do work before you guys. I do have to admit this is my home page. I am just thankful that no one uses my computer or they would think I was crazy. Hubby and I are going to dinner tonight. He is tired of sitting in the house. I think we are going to have sushi. The funny thing is I don't like fish so I will be having the veggie rolls. I looked them up on fitday and I have have all I want. I have been saving my cals for dinner. I havn't skipped any meals or snacks I am just making sure I would have room left for a good dinner. Ebe I am the same way with guys. When they say hi I think that they talk to everyone the same. I think it may be a girl thing. |
Glad you like Fitday, Jane. It has helped me much.
I mentioned to my doctor recently that I was always cold in this weather. He pointed out that my thyroid was OK and that my body is just missing that nice layer of fat it used to have. So that's why I am hungry. So I put on another sweatshirt. I'd rather do that than regain the weight I lost. I walked at the mall again this morning. I keep thinking about Curves, thanks for the input about it. I too would be intimidated by the machines in a big gym -- that's not for me. And I do need to stick with low impact stuff. We'll see. I also have weights I use at home, plus some exercise videos. Everyone, we all know what we should be doing. So let's do it, one day at a time. And keep smiling - |
Just checking in~~
I'm sooo proud of myself. I just got finished doing 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes on the stationary bike and 23 minutes on the treadmill. I even jogged a few minutes on the treadmill! Then I worked out with the weight machines and weights. Am I hot or what!! :flame: (Sorry, I'm just so happy I kept at it today!) This is a far cry from when I was 40 lbs. heavier. Kempy, so you're going out for sushi. I'm not much of a fan of fish, either, so I've only been to a sushi restaurant once. Let me know how the veggie rolls are. How many cals? Jo Jo, we're still waiting to hear how you ended up in Wyoming from Louisiana. That must have been a culture shock. See ya, D  |
