I still have a flap, and crepey skin (four babies, 3 over 9 pounds...) Mine really does bother me because I'm one of those people whose legs and arms look surprisingly good. My tummy is the biggest part of my body, and in some pants, the flap crease is visible.

I would LOVE to have a tummy tuck, but I wouldn't consider it unless I got to goal.

Mine hangs over, but not to bother me or my husband that much while DTD. I'll take a picture if you want. It's not pretty, but I don't mind sharing. I really wish I had before pics too so you could see the difference

Losermom--yup, my thighs too are super jiggly and stretchmarked, and I have batwings under my arm muscles. But I still love my bod too, and I know that in clothes we look amazing and no one else can tell what bugs us :D

I mostly dislike the stomach fat because of sex; when I'm on top it flaps against my partner's stomach and makes an awful noise and rubs against his stomach. He told me once that I gave him a rash (gee, so nice right? LOL). He also says it "gets in the way" and it kinda bothers him. Does the skin flap hang down enough that it would continue to rub against his stomach or anything like that? I know it won't look great but as long as it stops being a bother I think I could live with it.

Well, I can see this is a really touchy issue with you and I can understand that. Sex is the time you feel most trusting and most vulnerable and to feel 'unsure' can lead to not enjoying sex the way you want to and to give up a position you both like, isn't an answer either.

So, here are a couple thoughts. One, can you modify the position a bit to not have the skin flapping or rubbing? or wear something taht holds it on? Crotchless panties or something?

I am pretty convinced that with over time it will get better, but skin takes time to shrink up. It probably won't go away completely (but you are young, so it might), but I would almost give you a guarantee that it will get much smaller - just like pregnant belly skin takes time to shrink up.

And, if it doesn't, start saving up for a tummy tuck and after you've saved up for it, and let it tighten up naturally for awhile, you can then get rid of it (though really, if you are young and plan to have babies, I might wait until after babies), but only if you can REALLY become OK with it and not self-loath.

So... for now... I would suggest look for alternative ways to position yourself or get something sexy to hold it up and in so that you feel better about it and can start enjoying your sex life again.

(can you tell I'm a teacher for healthy sexuality?)

Yeahhh. I got that. It's pretty annoying. It has gotten smaller, though, which is nice. I think I'll always have a little pooch/roll there. I'm okay with it, as long as it comes up more. I hate to be super descriptive because nobody likes that, but as long as it's above my mons, I'm happy.

About the sex issue... could you get something like a belly band? Get one that's tight so it's hold it in place. It might look a bit funny but then you wouldn't have the rubbing issue. Good luck!

I don't have any kids (I'm 19) and don't plan on having any ever...I'm not a kid person. However I can't say that won't change a few years down the road.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Pinkflower--I'd actually like to see a picture! Your high weight was much lower than mine but I'd like to see what it looks like so I can be prepared for what I'm up against.

Yup, after obesity and many babies, it can look a LOT better, but short of surgery gravity is going to have its' way with the deflated, inelastic skin. It's not so bad, though. I'm still technically obese and yet it has gotten markedly improved on me, it will get much better with another forty pounds or so. But I'm not expecting miracles

Linsy- I noticed in one of your other posts, you mentioned that you lost the first 71lbs without exercise- that could be why you have a current overhang. If you just add in exercise along with strength training/ab work- it MAY get better and/or less "flappy"!

Hang in there!!!!

LOL--this was actually kind of a pun.

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm sure I'll learn to live with the stomach skin.

I used this oil "Mother's Special Blend", mostly almond oil, on my skin during my pregnancy--and it advertised itself as being useful for weight loss programs too.

I now use a mix of olive oil and jojoba oil (jojoba is supposedly closest to your body's natural oils) on my belly, since I am trying to lose weight. I don't know if it will help my skin shrink down, but it makes some sense.

/facepalm @ "hang in there!" I didn't even think of the "connection" at the time. LOL

One thing I have noticed is that my skin toned up fairly quickly 10 years ago - now well I think things will take more time and effort.
:)

I only sort of sympathize with all of you. I lost all my baby fat, without even trying, after 2 Caesarians 33 and 30 years ago. I am 67 years old today and I've lost 70+ pounds over the last year and a half. My FAT belly still overhangs my C-section scar. I've been told (by trainers and doctors) that, at my age, pretty much nothing short of a tummy tuck will help. (I also now need my wrinkled face filled in, due to both age and weight loss.) I cannot afford surgery and I know that at my age there could be more complications than usual and I would not heal as quickly as others do. I have actually been wondering if anyone else gets rashes and bad odors under the belly flap. I also wonder whether, if I'm getting rashes (crotch rot), no matter what I do, including drying with a hair dryer and then using Gold Bond powder, I might be able to get the belly flap removal covered by insurance....

Have any of you tried hot yoga? I'm just saying that because I have found through my weight loss efforts (this is my 4th one) this 3rd and now 4th time hot yoga has REALLY helped with tightening up my body, so much so that I would say I'm the same weight as I was in 2008 but look smaller and more shapely now because I've been doing hot yoga for so long.

It really helps to "tighten" absolutely everything, and I'm hoping it works for my stomach as it has for the rest of my body.

Just something to maybe look into?

prwins 12-25-2012 02:15 PM

OMG. Just checked out hot yoga. I can't imagine what that would do to my crotch rot under my belly flap (and under my boobs)!
