I agree with PP I dont think 1200 is really something you have to do at this point. For example at 212 my BMR was 1745 with a very active lifestyle it said to cut down to 1500 for extreme fat loss. Im sure thats not an exact number but the bigger you are the higher your BMR from what I understand and then you take 500 cals from that to start loosing. Of course you can do a few more but once you hit a stall then what will you do you sure cant cut them down much more it will leave you about starving and needing more nutriants. I think you should check out you BMR and go from that give it a little time and if its working then perfect if not make some changes.

okay guys thanks a lot, yeah my problem a lot is doing really good then blowing it over and over because I have been too strict so I guess I should take it easier. Then once I blow it, it takes me a while to get back into it and I waste a lot of time I could of been losing and gain some back, so I will listen to you all and skip the fasting and be a little more lenient on calories and just make my goal to maintain eating the right way without messing up. Thanks everybody I really appreciate the help and feedback :D

Here's the way I look at it. You're not starting from scratch at all, are you? I mean, you've already lost weight, you've just hit a bump in the road. You're still leaps and bounds away from where you were when you began, so even if you're starting over, you're starting over in such a better position than you were in when you started. So don't think of this as a failure that you have to work really really really hard right away to get back on track. You're doing great, and you'll continue to do great! Cutting out a bajillion foods and fasting won't help you lose it all in a day, because that's impossible, so just take it slow! It's frustrating, but it'll be worth it in the end! :D

The problem with the water fasting and juices and all that is you aren't losing just fat, you are losing muscle and other nutrients from your body.
At your weight you should eat 1800-2200 calories a day to lose. You are 299 lbs, that means your body needs around 2990 calories JUST to maintain it's weight. So if you cut down to 2000 calories that's almost a 1,000 calorie deficit a day. which translates to 2 lbs a week or 8 a month, and if you exercise you will probably lose even more than that. You might initally see a bit of a gain bringing up your calories but that's cuz your body will be hoarding- after a few days to a week that should settle down and your body should start to let go of fat once it sees you are eating more. 1200 is just too low- you don't want to get to a point where your body lives off of 1200 calories or less and anything above that causes you to gain. Also- eat some whole eggs. They are nutritious and contrary to popular belief eggs don't cause you to have high cholesterol- eating a lot of fat does. When I was 235 my eating was something like this: Breakfast: 3 egg omelette with half a cup frozen spinach, 1 small tomato (diced) and 2 tbsp of onion and 1 oz of cheese with half a cup of salsa on top. Lunch: large salad with 2 cups romaine, half a tomato, 2 tbsp red onion, 2 tbsp ranch dressing, half an avocado, 4 oz of grilled chicken, another oz of cheese. Dinner: 5 oz of grilled steak with 2 cups of vegetables such as grilled zucchini or asparagus or broccoli. Snacks: hunk of cheese or cauliflower with some ranch dressing (1 cup and 1-2 tbsp). I did eat a south beach type diet so I didn't have any bread or pasta or potatoes or fruit. But the point is I ate very well and still lost weight. Even now I'm in the 180s and I eat 1300 calories a day- more than you and I weigh 100 lbs less than you! I had my fat measurements taken before and after I lost around 30 lbs and the majority of loss what fat and the rest was a bit of water and very little of anything else. Eating very little does not equal faster fat loss but it can equal loss of muscle and that's the LAST thing you want. Good luck. |
I was just posting on another thread about potato chip cravings and here is a recipe for kale chips you can make at home really fast and they are tasty
Ingredients 1 bunch kale 1 tablespoon olive oil 1 teaspoon seasoned salt Directions 1.Preheat an oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper. 2.With a knife or kitchen shears carefully remove the leaves from the thick stems and tear into bite size pieces. Wash and thoroughly dry kale with a salad spinner. Drizzle kale with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning salt. 3.Bake until the edges brown but are not burnt, 10 to 15 minutes. I also just started a thread asking people to post their fav low cal snack and meal recipes. I just posted it so no posts yet but maybe some good ones will be on there. It's not about cutting everything out its about finding what foods you like in lower calorie recipes and smaller portions. |

wow cool thanks you guys for all the info :O
Thanks for the recipe Sonjae I'll look for your thread too for good snacks and meals sounds good! I have some faves I will post in there also :O Thanks Missita for the nice message I don't really give myself any credit for how far I've come and I don't have support in this in real life so it gets really hard and I just lose without ever really feeling that good about it or getting compliments or celebrating what I've done so far. Thanks for the pep talk really needed it :D got to remember not to feel like a total failure when I mess up. Thanks beerab wow you know a lot about calories thanks for sharing I have been kind of confused with that. I have just been eating for the weight I want to end up at. I would of normally had a bigger lunch yesterday but I was just so busy cleaning I didn't have much time. I will take it more easy I noticed when I obsess about cutting everything out and being so strict I usually blow it anyways (like if I have a 5 calorie piece of gum I feel horrible then) so I will just count my calories and not be so strict but remember to keep my meals healthy of course. Thanks you guys you really helped :D |
