Right now I'm buying 11's. I'm 5'3" 165lbs. 38" bust, 29" waist, and 39" hips. I'm between a medium and large top depending on the brand. I tend to carry most of my weight in my thighs.
|
I'm 5' 8" and an apple. I don't know what my jeans size was when I weighed 360 as it went beyond what I could try on in a store. I remember I was a 24/26 when I was in my lower 300's, and since I've been 285 down through around 250 (my current weight) I've been in a 22/24 (yeah, the past 35-40 pounds has not made a difference in what size I need to buy). But for track pants I'm in a 20, and my shirt size is typically a 2x.

I was 345 pounds and a size 24-26, and now I'm about 210 and a size 14-16 depending. I'm also 5'10 and luckily pretty proportional so pants sizes just fit differently. But I remember a few months ago I went to the Buckle with my best friend and she is the tiniest little thing, and we were going into the fitting room and she pointed at this shirt and goes "I like that, do they have that in my size?" and the lady who was helping us goes, "I'll see." and comes back with a large and goes "Got you the last large!" and Jennie was like "Thanks!!" and i was thinking LARGE? if she is a large now I am NEVER shopping here, no matter how thin I get! Sizes are just weird, I don't put much stock in them with vanity sizing, height, weight, proportions, etc.

sweetsmmer91, Buckle is where I bought my size 9 pants that are actually smaller than a size 5 anywhere else. Ugh!

This topic is very confusing to me. I am 5'4" and I weight 149 pounds but I'm still wearing my size 12 jeans and a large shirt. When will I fit into a 10 or lower? I'd love to get into a smaller size!
Edit: It's confusing because as posted earlier, women can weigh the same and be approximately the same height but wear different sizes. I carry fat in my tush and stomach mostly so I guess that's why I wear a larger size. |
I am 5'6, 254 pounds and I wear a size 22. I would say it's because your short. My mom when she was 200 pounds was in a size 14-16, and she's 6 feet even. I'd have been in a size 18 at least at that weight.

I'm just over 5'5", 134lbs & wearing an 8. I think in just a few lbs, I'll be able to wear a 6. They fit now, but leave a bit of a muffin top
When I first started out this summer, I was 161 & in a tight tight 14, even some 14's didn't fit, was def supposed to be in a 16! Even after I lost like 15 lbs, I was wearing the same clothes, but they fit better. I believe when I was even in my mid-low 140's, I was in a 10/12. In the smaller sizes, just a few lbs seems to make a difference in pant sizes. Like right now, because TOM is due, I'm up a couple lbs and bloated and my 8's don't look that great, so I'm wearing a 10. Even though they're loose, they look better than a little muffin top :) Crazy how just a couple lbs of water weight can make such a difference. I didn't notice that when I was a few sizes bigger |
I weigh 134 and TYPICALLY wear a size 4. That said, I have a pair of size 9 pants that are snug on me and will not fit if I gain anything, probably. I have shirts that are small and shirts that are large. I have dresses that are XS and some that are Large. I call my size by what most frequently fits, which is 4 for pants, S for dresses, M for shirts.

I'm 5'6" 138 pounds and wear a size 6 in every brand I have tried on in the last year. I wear a medium top and size 5 undies. 9M shoe... I've been wearing a six every since I hit about 149ish.
At 333 I was in a 3 to 4XL and a size 28 to 30 pant. I carried a lot of my weight in my stomach and butt. 10W shoe |
I'm also 5'2". About 196, and I wear a size 16 pant (can squeeze into a 14 but they don't look good. At all.). L or XL in tops.
I *am* smaller than I was on the way up and weighed this much. I'm guessing b/c I work out and eat better. I guess I'd be classified as an hourglass shape. I've seen other ladies who are the same height and weigh more and they wear smaller sizes. It is frustrating! |
im 5'6 and at 130lbs today. classic pear shape with no boobs but wider hips and fatter thighs (and very muscular calves).
wear a size 4 jean/pant, but have to buy the curvy tailored pants or jeans (except jcrew size 4 skinny jeans im wearing now). size xs, 0 or sometimes 00 skirt and top since my waist and bust are small. at 125lbs my jean/pant size goes down to 2, but everything else stays the same. |
Look at clothing sizes as a way to target what you might be able to fit into. Clothing manufacturers no longer size clothing by a standard of measurements. It's all marketing.
Lets say Clothing Co. A makes a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly and they call it a size 22. And Clothing Co. B makes a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly and they call it a size 2x. And Clothing Co. C makes a pair of jeans that fit you perfectly and they call it a 2. All the same measurements, just calling it different "sizes" to market it for the target audience they hope to sell to. It is even difficult to find clothes that fit perfectly, and then have that size be consistent throughout the entire clothing line. Buy what fits you the best and have things altered to fit well. Nothing makes you look good like clothes tailored to your body. |
Isn't it frustrating? At 196, I'm no where near a 16. I've kept stats on fitday for years off and on and I strangly enough had my measurements when I was about kelli21's weight, and I'm only one inch shorter. I was at 163, bust 41", waist 34", hips 43". WAY bigger.
I stand by my original comment: NOT FAIR! :) |
I'm 5'0 weighing 146 right now im in a size 7. At 173 I was busting out of size 11 but refused to get a bigger size lol. Back a couple years ago I was about 125-130 and was a size 3!!! I want them days back
|
Yep, it'd definitely crazy. ;) I'm 5'6" and I can give you 5different sizes I've been in:
Highest weight: 225 (higher than that and I was still in maternity clothes) Tops XL-XXL Bottoms Snug 16's Current weight: 192 Tops M-XL Bottoms 12-14's (probably closer to a 12, though) Prepregnancy weight: 175 Tops M-XL Bottoms 10-12's College weight: 155 Tops M-XL Bottoms 8-12's Lowest weight: 140 Tops M-L Bottoms 8 My two low weights happened 6-14 years ago so I have a feeling that some of the clothes are more vanity sized now. I'm pretty sure the 12's I fit into at 155lbs are not the same that I currently fit into! :dizzy: Oh, and all the sizes from when I was 175lbs and below I was an hourglass (prepregnancy), now I'm somewhere between a banana and and hourglass because my belly's so much bigger. :( |
