Weight loss support wishes?

Ok, I had a random thought today. If you had 3 wishes when it comes to support for your weight loss what would they be?

Here's mine in this order:

1. Unlimited food budget so I could buy all the best ingredients. :D

2. Cooking classes from some likes of Curtis Stone (or really anyone who cooks good food that's healthy).

3. A personal trainer.

I can think of a lot of other things I'd like to have too but I'll just stick to three things. ;) Anybody else got any good wishes?

DisgruntledOne 03-17-2011 10:44 PM

well my unrealistic wish is have your wishs all wrapped up in one. I want a live in person who is my chef and personnal trainer. 24 hr supoort!

Jo Kittibuck 03-17-2011 11:54 PM

1. The gym, only attached to the side of my house so I don't have to drive to it. With all the treadmills, weight machines, the works.

2. Someone to show up at my house with a fabulous outfit everyday, except one size too small, and say "Look what you're missing!"

3. Unlimited costume budget. The things I would work my butt off to fit into, if only I could afford them...

chickadee32 03-18-2011 12:00 AM

1. I'd like for someone else to cook a few healthy meals for me each week.

2. I'd like for my husband to be willing to eat some of my healthier food so that I'm not making different dinners for him and I.

3. I'd like to have a larger pantry and fridge/freezer (my fridge is ancient and small by today's standards, and the pantry is tiny).

30 Fat Still Awesome 03-18-2011 12:05 AM

1) A hot BF/Husband who's also a crazy fanatic healthy person who will serve as my minion err personal trainer.

2) An open field where I can use nature to exercise and also feel peaceful.

3) A change in policy that removes all the gunk from American processed foods so they're actually healthy for us. Then I can eat whatever I want and be like HA! to my diet.

Erm... who's got the lamp?

MissSMcC 03-18-2011 06:48 AM

unlimited food budget...
a hot single chef to cook all those healthy meals for me...
a new cooker (mine is pants!)

SCraver 03-18-2011 08:25 AM

1.) someone to buy/prep food. you know - wash/cut veggies, wash/cut fruit - go to the stores to get the food. I have a hard time finding TIME. I would love for someone to come and splay out fruits and veggies - buffet style - for me and my fam. to nibble on throughout the day.

2.) a personal trainer to help me with training for the triathlon I insist on doing in September

3.) extra hours in the day so I don't feel like I am always trying to CRAM my exercise into time that doesn't exist in my schedule.

pnkrckpixikat 03-18-2011 11:23 AM

1. Unlimited food budget
2. That time wouldfreeze when i entered the gym so i could complete my entire workout on any given day no matter how pressed for time i was
3. That i could pick how the weight came off, like a video game point bank "youve earned 3 lb loss, how would you like to distribute that?" lol

Elladorine 03-18-2011 11:42 AM

  1. That all restaurants had affordable, tasty, healthy options to choose from with nutrition info listed. No more second-guessing what I'm ordering or having to customize in hopes of the healthiest option available, and no more fretting about eating out period. :carrot:
  2. Either affordable food delivery or a live-in chef; I don't care for cooking and I'd love to have all the fuss of decision-making left to someone else. :p
  3. A home gym with a personal trainer. :dizzy:

niafabo 03-18-2011 12:04 PM

1. a nutritionist/personal chef
2. a personal trainer
3. a gym membership and a convenient form of transportation

Eliana 03-18-2011 12:13 PM

I'm thinking yep, yep, I'd take that and that.

1. The personal chef
2. I would definitely pick where the weight would come off and in which time frame.
3. I wish I could be on "What Not to Wear", get the $5000 and get a whole new and Stacey approved wardrobe. :D

Oooooo.... I'd like to change my fridge/pantry wish to this one, please.

LightRaven 03-18-2011 03:20 PM

I would definitely take the cooking classes. I'm currently learning how to cook now, because all I can cook is Italian! I mean.. it helps that I am actually Italian, I love the food... but making sauce, eggplant parm, chicken parm, etc etc.. all those carbs... I swear I sabotage myself every weekend because my brother asks me to make rolled stuffed eggplant.

Unlimited budget for exercise equipment/dvd's. I love amazon! And you won't catch me in a gym! It's more convenient for me to give my daughter a bath, cram my exercise in, and then toss her in bed :lol No travel time required!

A personal life coach/motivator/psycho-analyzer. I'm a little screwy in the head :dizzy:

Is this within reason? ;)

I would wish for...

1. A 24-hour personal gym and spa in my house, with pool :)
2. A miracle medical procedure/treatment that would permanently cure me of any urges to eat past satiety
3. Expert knowledge of how to cook every healthy recipe out there (and quickly, if needed)

LOL, a girl can dream can't she?

supergir111 03-18-2011 04:01 PM

oooh
1. A handheld calorie counting devise that lists nutritional data for absolutely everything. Restaurants, take away, dinner parties with friends etc
2. Cheap fully equipt gyms close to where I live
3. Tight, stretch mark free, smooth complexion, mostly hairless body :)

stacygee 03-18-2011 04:41 PM

Thank you for making me realize how lucky I am! I love my gym which is only a 5 minute drive- and I have a personal trainer- although more time with him would be beneficial.

I am liking what I cook and prepare for myself but the best support would be for my family to eat the same meals as I.

Of course- no matter how much weight I lose I still will need a BOOB job.

milmin2043 03-19-2011 05:05 AM

Not to be a downer, but I realized something very important about myself recently.
I don't need anything "extra" for my weight loss to be successful. All I need are my two arms and my two legs and a strong frame of mind.

i dont think any of us think we need any of these extra things... theyd just be so nice and lovely to have, make it less stressful if not less difficult lol

ITA. I meant this as a very lighthearted thread. ;) Plus, I think there's an obvious connection between having a lot of extras and losing/maintaining weight. There are a lot of statistics out there that poorer people struggle more with obesity. It's not too surprising when you consider that if you have money you can afford going to the gym, sitters that can watch their kids while they work out, better ingredients etc (and, honestly, there's such a better selection of healthy foods if you go somewhere like Whole Foods vs. a grocery store in a lower income neighborhood).

Sure, you don't NEED a lot of these things but it sure does make weight loss/maintenance much easier. We stayed with the in-laws for two months who basically live in a ghetto. There it was not safe to run.. at all, the grocery stores were horrible, and there was also a cultural bias against eating well/working out (they all thought I was crazy). My weight loss decreased during that period (surprise, surprise). Now that we moved and live in a better neighborhood and have a gym in our apartment complex it's been much easier to eat well and lose weight.

Serbrider 03-19-2011 01:20 PM

1. Time to work out two to three hours a day ( I would if I could... But I just don't have enough time ).

2. Lots of money to pay for all the healthy vegan food I could want.

3. That I could eat out ANYWHERE and not have to worry about: animal product, gluten, sugar, calories, carbs, etc.

Ah! Not alot of people think about or notice that stuff.

Walk into West Philly or North Philly... they don't have grocery stores. They have little bodegas that sell a little bit of this and a little bit of that, but they are no bigger than two rooms of my house, the fresh fruit is beyond "fresh". etc etc.

Philadelphia recently was trying to pass a soda tax to help "curb" people from drinking soda, etc. But really.. it was about trying to balance are stupid budget. And truly I had a meltdown about it. My mom was like "What's wrong with you? People drinking less soda and sugar is good!"

Yes it is. But if you are poor, poorer, or even just struggling a little bit (which I am sure a lot of us are doing these days) And you walk into a grocery store (if you are so fortunate to have a real one) You have limited funds, and several people to feed. Are you going to buy the $5 gallon of milk? or would you buy 5 2litre bottles of soda? Which goes further? Are you going to buy $3 package of apples, or the $1 package of cheese doodles.

It is truly a shame that the food that is the most good for us, it so out of reach for many... and eats up a good portion of my own budget. So I'm sure an unlimited food budget would be awesome for dieters. Because it costs money to lose weight. In order to eat the good food, we have to pay up.

Ok, off my soapbox now. :soap: Sorry. :blah:

I often wish for more time in the day to exercise..

But... I'm afraid I'd just sleep through it.

1) Amazing kitchen (larger, better equipment, MORE ROOM!)

2) Someone to clean said kitchen after I use it!

3) New workout clothes every 6 months magically appear in my closet

Angie 03-19-2011 11:35 PM

Oh, yes!

1. I'd like a big new decked out kitchen and a restaurant sized fridge to store all my meals.
2. A paid leave of absence from my job to dedicate myself to attaining my personal goals
3. The ability to bottle the high I'm on at times (when you feel like 'wow, i'm DOING this!) so that I could pull it out when the weight loss is slower and I need a little oomph.

milmin2043 03-20-2011 12:04 AM

It is a nice thread. I agree. It's interesting to see what everyone would wish for. What I was saying is that for ME, my 2 arms, 2 legs and strong frame of mind are the 3 things I need and wish to keep. Nothing special or expensive. As kids, we were dirt poor, and we were thin. We didn't have anything special. Just our arms, legs and imaginations.

I completely agree. I can't imagine how much harder my weight loss effort would have been for me if I didn't have ready access to stores with excellent food, a car to go grocery shopping, etc. I know that many people are able to lose weight without those kinds of luxuries, but I don't think there can be any doubt that it's a lot harder. Which, really, just makes me that much more impressed by those who are able to lose weight without the luxury of convenience.
