Anyone else starving the day before

  • a whoosh?

After 70 pounds, you think I'd be able to make the connection when it's happening, but no. Yesterday I was *starving* and just wanting to stuff my face. This morning I had a 2 lb weight loss from yesterday morning's weigh-in. Hoping the whoosh continues tomorrow (and realize 2 lbs isn't really a whoosh, but overnight? For me? Yeah, it is).

Today my appetite is back to normal. Weird.
  • Congratulatins on tue 70 pound loss , that is great !
  • Hahaha! YES. Although it hasn't been the day before, but sometimes 3 days before. And I get all weird about eating so many calories then BAM my body's tired of holding onto the weight and I notice it's gone.

Three cheers for that 2 pound sign of relief.
  • I have the usual starving days during PMS, and it's usually right in the middle of my cycle (say, 2 weeks before I actually start my period). But what I have noticed, is that the older I get the more of the hungry days I seem to have!

Used to, I had 3 hungry days and then a week where I barely wanted to eat. Now it's about 5 genuinely hungry days and then just a couple days where I'm not really that hungry.

I don't know if it's because I've done so many yo-yo diets that my body is tired of trying to work in deficits, or if it's just a symptom of growing older and the hormone changes that naturally occur.

If you have to be hungry, I guess knowing that it is signaling a whoosh is one of the best reasons!
  • yeah ive noticed that in myself. Usually a day or two before my woosh i want to snack on everything. I think it is my body going crap! We are about to use stores, eat eat eat! Lol
  • I'm hoping that's the case for me. I was absolutely ravenous last night! Maybe I'll FINALLY drop below 185.
  • Oh my gosh, maybe! I'm going to have to give this some serious analysis!

I am for sure a whoosher, and last month I hadn't lost any weight for a good 3 weeks, had a day where I was absolutely STARVING, even ate over my calories and couldn't keep myself out of the kitchen, then 3 days later at weigh-in I was down 5 lbs! This past Friday I was definitely more hungry than usual and did a little bit of splurging, haven't weighed yet, but if I get a whoosh I'm going to make the connection.

If this is the case, my, how much more manageable that feeling will be! Instead of feeling like, GREAT, when am I finally going to stop getting this feeling every so often?, I'll be thinking, SWEET, a whoosh is coming!

    Interesting!

EDIT: Okay, then, there you have it. I just weighed in, a day early, and lost 3 lbs since last Thursday (which is a definite whoosh for me). I'm going to keep my eye on this, and thank you SO much for posting it! Off to change my ticker...
  • Ha! I'm so glad to help, Shannon. You're right. I need to rearrange my thinking, because I've wondered about this before, and then forget it. I will have to be more aware and remember this during my next famished day.

I'm glad to hear I'm not alone. And it makes sense, even if there's no scientific basis (wonder if there is?), that the body is trying to hold onto the fat.
  • I hadn't thought of it but after reading your post I realized that is what
DOES happen. Wow, I learn so much from this forum!!
    Thank you a LOT!
  • It happens to me! Granted, my "whooshes" are more like 0.5 lb drops, but that's a lot in my world!!!!
