Hunger question

  • Do yall find that when you plan our your meals, you're actually eating more than you feel the need to? Sounds odd, but sometimes i find myself making myself finish my meal even if I'm no longer hungry... i feel bad if i don't finish it, But wont know how much i consumed if i don't...

    also, whenever i have calories to spare, i feel like it is necessary to eat something even if i don't want anything.

  • I feel the same way. I sometimes find myself unable to finish a meal I prepared. Since my parents trained me not to get up from the table without finishing my food, I always feel bad whenever I have leftovers. I'm learning not to force myself to eat when I'm not hungry anymore, though. I just put my leftovers in the fridge and eat them when I'm hungry. As for calories to spare, I used to worry a lot about them. Now if I just eat a piece of fruit or give myself a small treat.
  • I use my small dessert plates now to eat my meals instead of the bigger dinner plates, this makes quite a difference of how much you will put on your plate. I put a little bit of everything on the plate I planned to eat and yes I do finish it but the portions are smaller. I also make an attempt to take my time eating as not to overload my stomach (so it can do its job properly). These little habits have helped me tremendously.
    Oh, and if you are eating out, ask for the to-go box from the beginning and portion out your meal then put the rest in the box for your next meal.
    I am not under-eating but I was overeating before.
