Chicken Bewbs..

So FitDay calorie counter is giving me 434 calories per large chicken breast. Is that accurate? Other websites are calculating 7 ounces as being about 200 calories.

What are the probable dimensions of a large chicken breast? I usually eat it skinless, boneless, grilled or baked. So I'm just not sure - 434 per breast seems excessive.

I'm on a 1200 cal diet - so I wanna be sure to be eating at least that much.

I think what we normally think of as a chicken breast is actually a chicken breast half. I believe a whole large chicken breast would be the 2 pieces still attached. When I went to a butcher shop and bought chicken breast once he asked me if I wanted whole breasts and I said yes, and they were the whole breast, not what I normally think of as a chicken breast. Looked normal when I cut it in half. :D

Hope that helps!

Yes, that sounds about right! 4 ounces of chicken breast is usually around 110 calories, and 4 ounces is about the size of a computer mouse or deck of cards...it's sooooo small! A lot of times, packages of chicken breasts have two huge chunks of meat in them (therefore each breast would be 385 calories), but there are actually six or seven servings of chicken in it. If you get a food scale, that will help you determine exactly how many ounces you are eating.

Fitday can go by ounces, which would be more accurate. Also make sure you are picking "Chicken, breast, skin not eaten", as if you just pick large chicken breast I wonder if they're including the skin.

Holy Crow!! I did what you said ^^ and it's a difference of nearly 200 cals!

Dammit, this means I've been doing it wrong this whole time. =(

Baaaaaaaaahhh I suck! Thanks guys, I see what I did wrong. I am very particular about my chicken, I remove the skin, remove all the fat, then usually cook it - whether its chicken leg or breast.

Buy a food scale.

Seagirl, yea, I think that's the best bet for me.

If you don't mind me asking, are you South Indian? Or Pakistani?

Ps: Ashley, lol. First time I read it in a text, I was laughing like a hyena too. So laugh away my dear. ;)
