Girl Scout Cookie FAIL
Well I just messed up horribly for the first time in months and oddly enough I don't feel that bad about it which makes me worry. I LOVE girl scout cookies and my sister ran into a crew when she went out to go tan. She is always trying to tempt me with junk food and throw me off plan and this time she suceed. When she walked into the house and handed me a box of thin mints I didn't even think about it and went straight into the kitchen and poured myself a cup of milk and ripped open a row and started eating. More than half a row later I realized that I just made a terrible mistake and stopped myself. I didn't freak out. I just wrapped up the remainder of the cookies and put them in the freezer. I wish I felt guilty but I don't. I know I'm going to be back on plan tomorrow. It's strange I feel like I should be freaking out more about this. :?:

There is nothing in the world like a Thin Mint cookie, fortunately I haven't run into any Girl Scouts this year.
|
Mmm. Samoas are deliciously evil as well. All that caramel :/
|
Not freaking out is a good thing.
It's a few cookies, it's not a failure and it's not the end of the world. It's just some cookies! It's not like the moment you bite a cookie all your hard work is undone and all the fat you lost instantly gloms back onto your body. You stopped, you put them away, you're back on plan. There is NO reason to freak out. You ate some cookies, that's all. |
I feel your pain. At least you stopped at half a sleeve. Props to you for that. Once the Natalie machine starts eating Thin Mints she doesn't stop until the threat is eliminated.
|
You love thin mints so don't feel bad that you had some. You didn't eat the whole box. And now that they are safe in the freezer you can plan ahead and allow yourself a few for special occasions.
|
Even if that was 8 cookies, it was only 280 calories. Shrug. Go with a slightly lighter dinner and you're still on track for the day. No reason to feel guilty -- maybe a bit of a reason to feel annoyed and think, "oh man, that's a whole salad I could have eaten." But guilt? Nahhh. You've got this.

Ah, sisters. I was just slightly too late replying to my sister's text this morning and she ended up coming home with no girl scout cookies... I absolutely love them!
I think it's a really good thing you're not feeling too terrible about your cookie indulgence. As a long-term lifestyle change, would you be happier allowing yourself to eat a reasonable quantity of some delicious girl scout cookies when you want some? Of course you would! (Well, I would. ;) ) Good job on putting the rest of the cookies aside. There's no reason you shouldn't be able to enjoy them if they are a treat that you really enjoy. So now you can use them to help you practice moderation and allowing yourself reasonable treats etc. It's all just part of a larger plan of sustainable weight loss, right? Sustainable with thin mints... Yum. |
Good job not feeling guilty. I consider that a victory! Some thin mints aren't anything to freak out over (and I'm sure they were delicious!). Count them into your calories and try to stay in your range or even go a little bit over today...it's not a big deal. It's also great that you were able to stop at half of a package instead of eating the whole box.
|
I would have to buy the cookies and tell the girls to keep them for themselves, that way I have relieved my guilt and the girls are happy. :)
|
I think there is a comedian that has a joke about how Girl Scout cookies are so nicely portioned out. You know, those two servings come packaged in their own sleeves and everything.
Really, I don't think you have anything to beat yourself up over. You didn't eat the whole box, nor a whole sleeve, You were actually able to STOP yourself and start thinking logically about the situation. That is something you should really be proud of |
I feel your pain! My girl is selling the dang cookies, and it was all I could do to not buy 50 boxes of Somoas!
|
Good for you for not feeling guilty!! You just accept it, own it, and move on.
|
i mean if you really want to feel guilty about it or you want to pay yourself back for that indulgency, you could simply exercise..however, its a few cookies and you will jump back on track..i think its worse that you feel bad because if you felt bad, maybe you would just jump into a cycle of depression and binging over it instead of getting on track..so dont worry..theyre are much worse than girl guide cookies..mmm mint!
|
I can only thank god that the woman in my office whose kids are in girl scouts resigned a few months ago. I think I may be thin mint free this year. I hope so because they are my absolute weakness!
(ps...take them out of your fridge RIGHT NOW and throw them in a bucket of water. LOL) |
I have to agree with the other girls, not feeling guilty isn't a bad thing. As long as you don't allow yourself to do this often, it's no big deal. It's actually much better than beating yourself up over it.
Thin Mints are hard to resist. They're the only girl scout cookies I like, and really the only non-homemade cookie I can stomach anymore. I thought I lucked out when my mom brought home every kind except Thin Mints the other week, but no, she showed up with them a few days later. I've had three, and am trying to forget they're there. |
Oh, girl, I feel your love of the Thin Mints! :D
We recently had a Girl Scout knock on the door to take our order. My husband asked if I wanted the usual Thin Mints, and I looked at him like he was nuts; it was one of the toughest things I've yet had to say no to, because I freakin' LOVE those little discs of crisp chocolate minty goodness. You did well to eat only some of the sleeve and consciously decide you'd had enough. That's a win, not a fail! That's the kind of behavior that "naturally thin" people often exhibit, so it's a great sign that your new eating habits are so ingrained now. Never ever feel guilty about not feeling guiltier. ;) |
thanks for the reassurance guys. :)
|
good job for stopping and dont feel horrible about it because once you realized what you were doing you stopped and put them away.
ive been avoiding the thin mint ones because I know id have a similar reaction only idk if i COULD stop lol. i did have a similar reaction to the lemonade shortbreads, after the 5th one i was like 'hold on, WHAT am i doing!' so i took them to work so they could eat them ***p.s. slim fast has a 100 cal snack bar called chocolate mint that taste like thin mints but come in little single serving bars |

I had the same problem. I didnt buy them but I bought the sugar free version in the grocery store. I have a few, put them in a plastic bag and dont worry about it. Even though the calorie intake is about the same I dont feel guilty and I just start all over the next morning.
|
I have about eight cases on my back table right now. My daughter sure loves girl scouts, and I am learning a big lesson in willpower.
|
Trust me when I say I feel your pain! Im a troop leader so the cookies are stored in my house! I live in an apt - so there is no garage for these, they are right here in my living room for the rest of this month! All 500+ boxes
The tag-a-longs (peanut butter) are calling me! Facebook pic |
More and more people in my office are "working from home". This doesn't present as many opportunities to sell their kid's cookies to the ones who still come in! :)
Fortunately there aren't really THAT many cookies in a box, if you do buy some. |
:o Oh My! The freezer wouldn't stop me...I like them better frozen. Then comes the problem of not having enough cookies to finish my milk or not enough milk to finish my cookies, oh the problems I use to have. Congrats to you for stopping, I would have to say, "nice try sis-ta! Way to go!
