How much does your weight change by, in 1 day?

I know I have personally seen my scale fluctuate as much as 4lbs in the course of a day (not 24 hours, but between morning and evening). I take my 'first thing in the morning' weight as my true weight.

How much have you seen your scale fluctuate by?

stacygee 02-23-2011 05:34 PM

Mine fluctuates up to 5 pounds over the course of the day. I too, take my first morning weigh as my real one. It is a bit lower after a long workout and highest right after dinner. Whatever my bedtime weigh is- I will be 2 pounds lighter by the time I wake up in the morning.
GOD- I think I know too much about that!

Niecy 02-23-2011 05:38 PM

Mine is exactly the same as Stacy's! I can also "predict" what I will weigh by morning if I weigh myself the night before.

berryblondeboys 02-23-2011 05:38 PM

I typically see 3 pounds between morning and night. Sometimes as high as 5.

gagalu 02-23-2011 05:39 PM

2-4lbs. when i'm on my period, i gain up to 10lbs.

i always record my morning weigh ins because they aren't as influenced by food or water consumption.

Anywhere from 2-5 lbs, depends on what I ate for the day as well.

What ever the cause I can report that it happens to men also. I see an increase during the day of 3 - 5 lbs. I use my morning weight in my under wear as my tracking weight.

I place the scale on the same place in the bathroom every time. I have an old fashioned spring scale with the large round dial. So you will never see me report a fraction of a pound unless I decide to buy a digital machine.

I find I have to be careful about my feet positions on the scale or the reading will change.

Larry,

My cardiologist said I should eat low fat food. I asked him how I can tell if it's low fat, He replied "If it tastes good, spit it out":D:D

I've weighed up to 12 pounds MORE a few times from one morning to the next...scarey, but true. But the most it's ever gone down in one day is 4 pounds. Of course these weights are after binges and/or heavy eating like on Christmas Day.

It's funny, people always warn about losing more than a pound or 2 a week, saying it's dangerous, but I never hear them say that gaining that much in a day is dangerous. LOL

hope4balance 02-23-2011 06:31 PM

Yep, same for me to, up to 5 lbs. When I am on my period, I "gain" a ton of weight (8-10 lbs) and I keep it for a few days. The, it drops off again...

MissSMcC 02-23-2011 06:43 PM

mine is much the same, my weight goes up about 3-5lbs.

sept15lija 02-23-2011 08:41 PM

I usually fluctuate about 3-4 pounds during the day - and yes I can also predict what my morning weight will be, I'm usually 2 - 2.5 pounds less by the morning.

ShanIAm 02-23-2011 09:02 PM

Yeah, I would see a 2-4 pound difference between morning and night. I'm glad you asked this question. Now I don't feel so alone! :-)

Eliana 02-24-2011 07:19 AM

Usually 2 and never more than 4.

I hope this thread gets read by everyone who feels like a failure because the scale doesn't march downward cooperatively by a few ounces every day like clockwork!

I rarely get on the scale before bed, but sometimes I do after I come home from the gym and before eating dinner - and I typically find my weight at that time is 2 pounds higher than it was that morning. Then my dinner has its own weight, say about a pound, not to mention 1-2 pints of water that I drink in the evening as well. I wouldn't be surprised if I typically go to bed weighing 4-5 pounds more than I did that morning.

And yet aspiration, perspiration, elimination, all those marvelous process bring my weight by morning more or less down to where it was the previous morning, give or take a pound or two. Amazing!

As for morning-to-morning fluctuations - when I first started on my eating and exercise plan, I could see daily bounces of as much as 4 pounds (which could mask a whole lot of fat loss, let me tell you) - depending upon what I'd eaten the previous day, what I drank, how much hard exercise I'd done, etc.

Nowadays I rarely see a bounce of more than 2 pounds up from day to day - although a 2-pound bounce is pretty common.

I weigh every day, but I measure success on a time scale of many weeks. ;)

1-2lbs...but then again I eat low sodium (approx 1500mgs/day).:)
