I haven't been asked in a long time but I used to a fair amount. Once was right after taking the bar exam and I really let the girl have it and told her what a RUDE thing it was to say and to f-off. And once a judge asked me in front of like 100 people if an upcoming court date would interfere with my due date. I said, "May the record reflect that I am NOT PREGNANT." The second time was funny, but I have developed a little more of a sense of humor about it. Seriously though, what kind of bird brain assumes that about someone. All kinds of things like certain medications can make someone look pregnant. Bad question!
Edited to add: Maybe I get asked less now that I am 40. |

I am roughly 13st.8pounds on my scales but I can vary anywhere between 13.6 to 13.8. I have also been asked this once in the past, last year sometime I believe it was ('when are you due?'), but I work in a bar and she looked like she wanted to pick a fight, was having a bad day and was looking for some1 to pick on, I believe it was out of spite to some1 random more than anything else. I used to, once upon a time, be 16st 1.5pounds, dreadfully unhappy so that is why my Mum dragged me along to weight watchers and i dropped to 12st.8pounds, I desperately would just like to even get back to that point again, but cannot seem to find the drive again... :( xxx

Really? REALLY?!? People really ask other people they don't know very well whether they are pregnant?? Oh my goodness. I must have been brought up in a Ms. Manners family, I never would have thought to do something like that. One would hope after the first mistaken assumption that they would learn never to ask that again.
Mind you, where I work now in the Middle East, most of the local ladies wear such all encompassing clothing you have no idea what size they really are under there (black abayas are very elegant and slimming). Last month one of my students came to talk to me because she was concerned she might miss an exam, and when I asked why she said, "Because my baby is due!". And seriously I had no idea. |
